    Hi,

Since a few weeks, I discovered that setting an "Un-publish date" on a document won’t take that document offline... The documents stay online, regardless when i set an un-publish date or not.

I checked the current time and date of my webserver, these are correct. Also, I asked my hostingserver about this problem, they say it doesn’t have to with the settings on the server.

Does anybody else have an idea how this problem is generated and how it is solved?

I had this problem with MODx 0.9.2, just upgraded to MODx 0.9.5, this doesn’t solve the problem.

    Thanks in advance!
    Greetings,
    Gust

Looking further into this problem, I see in the website "Schedule" page the documents that should have gone offline are deleted from the "un-publish Events" and are shown in the "All Events" -list.

So according to MODx, the page went offline, but in fact the page is still online...

      Any ideas?

Are you sure they are not being taken offline? Have you logged out of your manager session to check? Remember, manager users can see through unpublished documents...

Maybe it’s a browser or even a proxy cache issue? When looking at the documents, are they showing "published" or "unpublished" in the document tree?

Tested on different locations, with different ISP’s, with different browsers. So that rules out the proxy cache en browser issues.

In the document tree, the documents are showing "published" when looking at the documents.

An example of a document, that should be offline, but still is online:

                Changes
                Created: 14/07/06 10:45:12 (Gust)
                Edited: 14/07/06 11:34:21 (Gust)

                Status
                Status: Published
                Publish date: (Not set)
                Un-publish date: 14-01-2007 10:40:08
                Cacheable: No
                Searchable: Yes
                Menu index: 81

As you can see, i’ve created that document on the 14th of July 2007 and set the unpublish-date on the 14th of January 2007.

However, this document is this online...

                Greetings,
                Gust

For grins, try adding a manual publish date in the past.

Just added a publish date in the past:

                    Changes
                    Created: 14/07/06 10:45:12 (Stijn Gielis)
                    Edited: 07/02/07 17:42:14 (Stijn Gielis)

                    Status
                    Status: Un-published
                    Publish date: 07-07-2006 10:41:20
                    Un-publish date: 14-01-2007 10:40:08
                    Cacheable: No
                    Searchable: Yes
                    Menu index: 81

As you can see; that did the trick... After saving the document, document was offline. Is this a unwanted feature that you must enter a publish date in order to get the un-publish date working?

In that case, maybe it can be solved that publish date will be set to creation date on saving the document when it is not manually set by the user?

Is there a solution to set the publish date on every document (where i didn’t specify an publish date) on my site the same as the creation date? Because i have 30 or more documents currently pending to go offline in the future and would not to set an publish date on each of them...

                    Thanks!

                    Greetings,
                    Gust

I think that this has been resolved in the current trunk build, but if it hasn’t it should be. You can use the Doc Manager module to bulk-set publish dates on a variety of pages.
