Ok, I got my template into modx, and it formed with my CSS, where would you guys suggest I start looking to customize stuff? Lets start simply. I put Ajaxsearch on my site, but I cant seem to figure out how to customize the way it looks, the CSS doesnt seem to be working.

I guess where are the best resources for snippets?

Hey guys, thanks for all the replies. I think one of the key things I was missing was replacing HTML with MODx script...at first it looked all GUI based, but I couldnt get anything to work right. So to for the menu to work you replace "page.html" with the [~link~], right? Thats one of the concepts I didnt get. Integration of the CMS with your code.
Well, that’s a beginning. The real trick is to replace your whole menu with [[Wayfinder]]. Then your menu will be dynamic, no need to edit your menu when you add/remove/move pages.

If you look at the documentation for AjaxSearch, you’ll see all the CSS id and class names that it makes for you to use in your CSS file.

Try the Wiki, it’s still growing, but there’s quite a bit of good stuff there.

I am going to try and keep all my totally n00b questions in this thread

              1. How do I format the paramaters for something. For instance, theres a parameter for ajax search &introMessage="Search here", woud I format it as [!AjaxSearch? $introMessage ="Search Here"!], and then add all the parameters I wanted to customize?

              2. Can I add CSS Classes inside the editor, and format it with my external stylesheet? I guess Ill just try that out right now and see.

                1) [!SnippetName?firstParam=`blah` &secondParam=`blah`!] PLEASE pay attention to the use of backtics, not single-quotes, to wrap parameteres.

                2) If you’re using an RTE in HTML mode, yes. If you don’t have RTE enabled, yes.

Woah, thanks for the ultrafast response!

I answered my second question just now, and thanks on the parameter tip. I can leave that blank though, right?

And also, is there a centralized place where I can find all the snippet parameters outside of the Manager? (and maybe more coverage than the Wiki)? It will help me look and script stuff much faster. And ask less questions smiley

Most snippets are documented in the snippet code itself. Read through the code and you’ll find a wealth of info.

Aye, but I am not real versed in the scripting (barely any at all), so I have to do a lot of trial and error, so I was hopng there was better documentation, but I just copied them into word processing docs. No big deal.
