It all depends wether you’re on a dedicated server or not... I have a dedicated box at OVH, running fine.
Shared hosting is not, IMHO, the way to go for professionnal purposes... but when you do need it, you better choose a nice one.

Anyway, more likely than not, you’ll have few options to modify your environnement if you’re on shared hosting.
As far as register_globals being on it depends if you can edit php.ini... there was also I don’t remember exactly how a way to desactivate it through .htaccess (or is there ?).

      tkanks.

I’ll have a look to this php story .. but still needa find out if Nfrance is compatible (strange no one has tested it before ??)

Both are non dedicated.. sorry : small designer, small customer, (or vice versa ?) that’s the way..

Ca veut dire quoi "IMHO" ??

      Thank you

IMHO is short for In My Humble Opinion wink

Well, about being small designer, and having small customer I am in your case but I chose to invest in quality hosting to have top notch performances and right now, dedicated box are getting really affordable. I pay 56 euros (w/o taxes, i.e HT) per month, not that much if you consider the security and performance gain... On top of that, add 500 euros a year to have the server handled by a real experienced server admin...

It depends how you position your offer on the market, I chose to try and position myself on the "custom tailored, high quality yet affordable solutions". It seems to work, I have clients coming to me now after 8 months of activity grin I am not getting rich yet by any means, but I can support the cost and make a living which is a good start for a young business.

Cecile published a solution to set register globals to Off on shared hosting at OVH :
          http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php/topic,10995.msg74406.html#msg74406

It’s a replacement for the php flag method, which you can use in .htaccess :

          SetEnv REGISTER_GLOBALS 0

Might work for NFrance too...who knows ?

            Sorry 4 late answer :

The standard php line to set register globals to Off is ok with Nfrance.

            There’s no issue with it.

Was a little tricky to make Furl going right anyway, but ..not this thread purpose.
