Hi,
I just push a fresh install to a futur new site location and get at the manager logon ’I dont know how many error’ ( a Window popup windows I dont see the end, containing html code).
A previous test on my local pc was good, so I imagine this comes from a *%%## specific behavior of the isp may be
<b> Warning <b/> mysql_connect() too many open links in
extenders/dbapi.mysql.class.inc.php on line 85 ...
This is repeated hundreds (?) of time so I can see any cancel/ok button and the bottom of this popup.
Plus the default demo site is opening on the modx 404error page (without css).
ISP is NFRANCE.
I dont understand what is this.
Thank a lot

Is NFRANCE an inexpensive shared hosting provider?

No,
It a pro one. And the one of this customer too, so I figure out we wont be abale to change ..
But I need to understand the meaning of those errors before going any further..
Thank you

That "too many open links" means that the server has a limit on how many connections can be opened at once, and the script is exceeding that limit. It keeps trying to connect, and keeps getting rejected.
huh well..
Is there any means to bypass this issue or it’s dead ?!

I’d be willing to bet it’s exceeding the connection limit because you are encountering the TemplateSwitcher loop that seems to occur on some platforms when that particular plugin is installed. If you install the default content with all the default plugins, make sure you uncheck the TemplateSwitcher so it is not installed. If the error persists, it’s likely going to be an issue that needs to be addressed in the MySQL configuration on the server.

Go ahead and delete the template switcher plugin actually.

Yep I saw some post about the tpl switcher and was actually trying to setup another new install.. without checking it in the install choice panel.
Unfortunatly, what was ok yesterday seams not to be today

>:(

as the DB test connection stay on testing connection and never give back hand to me. I go further (click on next) and now got the session issue "Checking if sessions are properly configured: Failed!"
I was editonf the index.php from install to make was it’s said on the post
http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php/topic,2658.msg23321.html#msg23321
but .. same result bad session config.. so i cant test without the tpl switcher .;
So how to delete it hacking from phpMyadmin of the first install ? (huh or something like this ...)

NFrance is not cheap yeah, but it’s not exactly cutting edge

I wouldn’t choose them, personnally... I had issues with a client running a server on NFrance with Textpattern, had them change for OVH.
Their environment might be the cause of this, publish a phpinfo() (go to Rapports > Afficher Infos Système) it would be a good starting point

Yeah David,
We know NFrance is not so cool as it should be..
I’m afraid however they wont offer many opening to other configuration.
I just ran the same install in 2 minutes on the other domain of this customer (on OVH) but I have warnig about set registr lobal = on over there.
(ca je ne connais pas trop , si tu sais si OVH permet de régler ca...)
But as the the current site is quit well referenced and, well known by our customer’s ..customers, we MUST keep it and it looks like being forbidden to redeirect to OVH cause this could impact the reachability of the site during the DNS actualization.. (I personnaly do not fully agree with this theory).
Anyway I have opened a call at Nfrance, just in case someone is there to reply...
