Hi. I’ve just upgraded a site from modx-0.9.2 to modx-0.9.5 and all seems well but for the inability to publish/unpublish documents. The options are greyed out.

Can anyone point out what’s happened here and how to correct it?

    Thanks.

It seems you and gnool are having the same problem after an upgrade...

Did you run the installer in upgrade mode? Do you have the original admin user in place? There are new publishing-related permissions that should be set on upgrading a site.

I ran the installer in upgrade mode.
Yep the original admin user is in place.

In the upgrade I didn’t see anything about publishing-related permissions.

It takes place (or should) behind the scene on the database... hmmm... :/

It sounds like our situations are very similar. I followed the upgrade instructions on the wiki, ran the installation in upgrade mode and had the original admin user in place. *looks around suspiciously*

Were you logged in when you did the upgrade? I’ve had weird things happen when I am, and they went away when I cleared my browser cookies. Now I always make sure I’m logged out before doing an upgrade, and have done over a dozen on several different systems from several different versions without a hiccup.

I think I was. I just cleared Firefox’s cookies and I’m still having the problem. I tried logging in with IE but the Publish and Unpublish options are still greyed out. If anyone has any ideas please let me know, this website will be frequently edited and I’d rather not have to go into phpmyadmin every time i want to publish a document smiley

You only need to go into phpMyAdmin once if the problem is what I think it is - the quick fix (based on my assumption of the problem wink ) is to open up the ’modx_user_roles’ table and check the Administrator record and make sure that the ’publish_document’ field is set to 1.

If the ’publish_document’ field is already set to 1, then please post back. Still, log a bugtracker entry if you haven’t already with information of your server setup (php version, mysql version etc.) as the issue definitely needs to be tracked.

Yes!! That worked, thanks! It already was set to "1", but I deleted the 1 and typed it again, and I have another user group that had it’s publish setting set to "0", which I set to 1. I’ll write up a bug report for it now.
