      If I start from scratch, and do a fresh install of MODx, can I reload a backup of the database, and restore the site that way?

        It depends on what version your site was... you should be able to do so, but you should re-run the installer in upgrade mode after restoring your site.

          You’re probably better off restoring the database and uploading the 0.9.5 files AND your old config file and then running the installer as an upgrade. I’ve done that and it went off without a hitch. If you move your installation or change your database, make sure that you change your config file to reflect this before trying to run the installer.

              OK, check this out- Empty Database, and fresh upload of 0.9.5. I have not installed it yet. What is causing this? it looks like the server isn’t rendering the PHP!

              heav.org/install

              Here is the server info:

              Apache version 1.3.37 (Unix)
              PHP version 4.4.4
              MySQL version 4.1.21-standard

                Yes, it does indeed look like that. Check your server settings. Try uploading a file called test.php with just the following in it:
                <?php
                phpinfo();
                ?>

                and let us know what happens...

                  OK! Thanks ZAP! The php test file didn’t work either, but it made me think of .htaccess files, and sure enough, that was what was causing it.

                  Not sure how the whole thing will turn out, but at least it installed fine!

                    When I upload my old database, can I drop the table that contain the site stats? If so, which tables exactly?

                      No need to drop them. Feel free to empty them if you like. The data for pretty much any table with "log" in the title is superfluous at this point.
