    Hi,
    My current modx installation located here: http://www.svsworldwide.com is creating core dumps and filling up the space. I have cuple of more modx installations on the same server but none of them are creating this kind of issue.

    The dumps are from 0kb to 175MB, it happens in the root directory of the site. After testing i got to know that it happens when we login to the manager. (It might be happening in other random situations too but it happened thrice after logging into manager)

    The dum contains junk values, one of the dump had following values in it...

      0.9.2 or 0.9.2.1? Are you using the built in stats? If so disable them and truncate their tables in the manager using the Backup Admin tool and clicking on the log files where the numbers are underlined. Keep in mind you’ll loose your historical stats, but gain back most likely a working install.

      Or you could upgrade to the public beta 5 and gain a heck of a lot of features and bugfixes.

        Hi,
        I am using 0.9.2.1 i.e. latest stable build which is available for download. I just disabled the stats from configuration (log visits = no) but it did not help.

        Do you think upgrading to 0.9.5 beta would help? and is it advisable for live sites?

        Thanks

          If you’re getting core dumps, I don’t see how it could hurt.

          There are probably over a hundred bug fixes in 095 that might resolve the bad behavior. Right now the only things holding up release are a few minor bugs (the "main one" involving the upgrade to TinyMCE from previous installs with TinyMCE ... just delete Tiny first and it works great), language translations and minor styling/usability issues with the manager.

          Did you truncate the visitor log tables?

          Backup first and be prepared to re-install your database from your backup .sql file and your site from your files archive in case it’s something really crazy.

            Hi,
            Core dumps are hurting because it is filling the web space and because of this client’s emails are getting bounced. Whenever I access admin panel, it creates 2 dump files, one has the code pasted above and other one contains some jumbled code related to kernel and other stuff.

            About truncating log tables, Yes, i had done it too.

            I will update it to beta version and I hope it fixes my problem.

            I will update the thread once I am done.

            Thanks,

              Hi,
              I updated it to the beta version beta5-rev1785 but the problem still remains. The only difference is, now it is creating core dumps of file size around 53 MB (earlier it was around 116 - 176 MB)

                I found one strange thing...

                Check this mysql table details:

                Table: modx_event_log
                Records: 152,182
                Type: MyISAM
                Collation: latin1_swedish_ci
                Size: 248.5 MB

                It starts creating dumps once this events table is filled up...

                Deep

                Edit: Okay, some more clue....

                When I checked one of the records of that table, this is what I found in the description:

                              <html><head><title>MODx Content Manager  » </title>
                              <style>TD, BODY { font-size: 11px; font-family:verdana; }</style>
                              <script type='text/javascript'>
                              function copyToClip()
                              {
                                holdtext.innerText = sqlHolder.innerText;
                                Copied = holdtext.createTextRange();
                                Copied.execCommand('Copy');
                              }
                            </script>
                              </head><body>

                  trunc that table... that’s insane... in fact, clear out your manager event log.

                    It’s crazy, it is showing errors every other seconds and that too in buch of 100s.. check the screenshot, this was taken approx. 10 seconds after i cleared the event_log table

                      You might have a snippet going horribly awry. I have no idea which one, but I’d start disabling them one-by-one to figure it out.
