So, new to MODx, but have been digging through it in earnest. I’m primarily a designer, but have been coding CF for 7 years and started PHP about 2 years ago, and have a good "programmers head". I’m really looking forward to MODx being my CMS of choice because of its flexibility.
My question is this, in past years, before CMs’s became all the rage, I would (in conjunction with coders) develop custom CMS’s (in CF and MSSQL) providing admin level access for page content. So if a page had 5 different types of content and an image, these where able to be modifed via the admin control panel and the page code placed that content in a specific area on the page. This gave me complete control over page-level templates and kept all content (from an organization POV) attached to each page. Links to downloadable files and dynamic image loading based on page variables...stuff like that.
I am assuming form what I read that TV’s and @BINDINGS enable this? Can I create a Page Detail template laid out to have multiple content areas, or is this something that is implemented on an article level?
Here’s a scenario, a 3rd level page that contains the following:
- an image
- Download a high-rez JPG
- an Excel File
- 2 individual content blocks
So instead of providing one large edit block, I’d like to have each content block controlled by it’s own edit function, so I can define layout via the template, thus removing the possibility of user (client) error in screwing up the layout.
Thanks
