I understand the choise to remove the built in statistics from modx because of performance issue but now we won’t be able any more to write a snippet to get the most popular pages for instance.
Why not use for example this for the counting (it will be included in 0.9.5 I believe..) and then do a snippet that lists most popular pages based on that table.

@Uncle68 : Yeah you can exclude IPs.

But true it’s not highly detailed stats.
The thing is, I find detailed information is hardly often analyzed unless you have skilled and dedicated people to do it...

Davidm, I agree, sometimes less information is better than to much!

I’ll check it again to see how to exclude IPs, I think I’ll use it on some small sites!

Now I’m gonna check out Slimstat and some other smiley

I’ve been trying to get Slimstat to work, someone in this thread suggested Slimstat to be good for statistics. I use it as suggested in the slim-stat-plugin.

But I can only get it to mark hits on documents in root folder, if the documents are in folders they don’t show up in Slimstat.

              Any ideas?

There is no official thread for the slim-stat-plugin, so I ask it here smiley

                Uncle68,

I’d honestly suggest Google Analytics (externally hosted) or AWstats (server log analysis). It’s too easy to overload the DB with slimstats, and it tracks hits, not page views, which is not a really good measure (I’m fairlly certain anyway... been a while...)

I’d suggest phpTrafficA. It looks quite ugly but produces fine stats and useful clickpaths wink

                    Thank you! laugh

I’ve tested so many stat engines now, this one was the first working! And it really has some great functions!

I agree it’s ugly, but it does the job! smiley

Thanks for the reply! Yes, I use Google Analytics, but in my opinion some functions are missing.
AWstats is good, but my favorite host uses a cluster, so it’s not possible to use AWstats there.

Slimstat is a bit upgraded, so it shows page visits now (if I only got it to work in subdirs). And I use a separate db for it, not slowing down my site much.

Also, I was a bit negative about phpMyVistits in an earlier post, but it’s quite useful after all!

Thanks all for your good advises! smiley

EDIT: Forgot to mention: BBclone is far the best stat engine I’ve ever seen, but for some reason I can’t get it to work on my host. But I strongly recommend it! Does not use any data base.

I’ve tried using BBClone, actually did some snippets for it too to get statistics on your page, but somehow it allways manages to corrupt its data files. I have it running few days fine, but once there is some traffic, it corrupts its files and starts to display an error on the page. It has some file locking code when it writes the data files, so I’m not sure why it happens. Anyways, I can’t suggest it for that matter.
