Only manager users with edit permissions can edit the site. If you want a webuser to edit then you have to write some snippets to allow that.

more it goes, and less i found Modx good for my projects. (I sold a project of site with the possibility of modifying it by a person non-specialist… ) >:(
Well, I can upgrade MODx too, the hack to QuickEdit was trivial and I can apply it again. But note that the change I made does not let me edit private pages. QuickEdit will happily edit private pages, it’s just that MODx won’t let you see the page (and thus, won’t display the QuickEdit box for that page). It is not QuickEdit that needs fixing - although your request will also be useful anyway.
This gets more confusing.
OK, so there is a problem with MODx not showing the private pages when it should. Here is another one:
1. Log into the manager as admin (ID = 1)
2. View the website -> can see the quickedit interface
3. Log in as a web user -> can still see the quick edit interface
1. Log into the manager as an editor (permission to edit pages and run modules)
2. View the website -> can see the quickedit interface
3. Log in as a web user -> CANNOT see the quick edit interface
Any ideas?

Even if MODx allowed private pages to be viewed, the problem is that on my site there are no links to them. You have to log in as a web user to get to them. By listing these pages in Quickedit, it avoids the client having to log in twice - one to the manager and once as a web user.

it is perhaps not necessary to have users Web, but just "user" ?...
MODx has two different kinds of user. I think in 1.0 they will be merged, but right now they are not.

Yes. The web user system was a mod of the original which had no front-end validation at all. But it’s always been a mild irritant, and it’s going to be straightened out properly.
