this is a good thread, I realize it might have started on a sour note but it’s truly brought me to a better understanding of the work you guys are putting into modX. If I won the lotto I’d certainly make a portion of the foundation dream a reality. I respect what yall are doing "FOR FREE".
I have a suggestion that could perhaps be applied. The modX community is full of developers and though many of us are perhaps barely making it by on our own and can’t truly afford to donate money but what about some time. Ryan, You say your funding the project and using the knowledge gained and the code written to further modx’s capabilities. What if we were all doing the same, I know I get projects in that I turn down because I don’t have the resources/time. If we could put peoples skillsets together we could fund the project through rejected projects. you could set the projects up on a system like the bug reports. I realize this is a rather lofty concept but it’s a step toward a solution everyone can help with. Hell the base of almost any webproject is a already built "MODX". and who better to build sites off the modX platform than its community.
It’s just thought, don’t laugh at me or I’ll cry and you’ll feel really really bad...

I hear ya, there’s far fewer channels, fewer complications involved... I’ll see what I can do about paypaling you’s guys

I agree with this. I have two projects I would like to work on - but time is an issue.
One is integrating ExtCal into MODx.
The second is integrating eForm and Susan’s NewsLetter snippet (which is a user registration script that uses user_settings). With the hope of having an advanced user registration form (an administrative Module is optional). And of course this would be released for the MODx community. Any takers/quoters?

Glad to see things have taken a more positive path
1000$ in donations ?
Duh, I thought it was more than that, I donated 100 and felt like it was just a start and small payback for all the great things I enjoy today and make my life easier buiding websites for clients... My hope is, donate 100 a month ! I am not there yet, but I sure hope I will...
Anyway, glad to see the thread has spun in a good direction

MODx est l'outil id
I have not yet made a commercial site using MODx, however I did make a silent agreement with myself that I would either donate:
10% if under $500
$50 - Site I charge $500/$1200
$100 - Site I charge $1200/$3000
and on an on............
I know this is not much, however I figure after paying taxes, wages etc that it is something.
If I could give more I would and I plan to build in a fee when quoting that gets 100% donated.
Anyways, this is what I plan on doing and hope to contribute financially soon.
Maybe it’s an idea that would suit other users!
