Thanks for your help with this! OK, view one of the locations and then keep clicking on the location links on the right. The time before it fails and takes you back to the map page can be anywhere from a couple of clicks to 20 or 30. Keep going and you will eventually see it. It isn’t consistant - it doesn’t happen for the same specific pages, but instead happens at random.

I checked and it happens with FF and IE. I think it’s a problem with the web server, but I don’t see a solution except to give up on friendly URLs. :’(

Hi Andy,
I’m not sure what to tell you, I’ve clicked through dozens of locations on your site and everything seems to work fine. I’m on Mac 10.3.9 using Firefox, Opera and Safari and everything seems fine. Can you provide a screen shot of what you are seeing?

No, I haven’t seen this. I just don’t understand why I can’t replicate it. I’ve probably clicked over 50 locations and I’ve never been sent to the homepage. I’ll try again later and let you know what happens. BTW, have you tried using friendly alias path set to yes? I’m wondering if that will make any change.

Hmmm... I turned on the option to use the friendly URL alias paths, and clicking on every location immedately took me to the map page with the error URL. So I turned the option back off and still each location page goes back to the map page. Interesting, but annoying. At least it is consistant now.

Does you code comply with the special note in friendly alias paths?
NOTE: When setting this option to ’Yes’ (turning on alias paths), you must reference things (such as images, css, javascripts, etc) using the absolute path: e.g., ’/assets/images’ as oppose to ’assets/images’. By doing so you will prevent the browser (or web server) from appending the relative path to the alias path.

Nothing like that seemed to break when I turned it on, but now I have it turned off again. Even though I have returned the setting to how it was before, the problem is worse that it was. Every second click on a location goes to the map page. Are you seeing the same thing?

Mine finally dumped to the homepage with the crazy URI. Not that I know it is related to your problem but I think you should be using the following htaccess code because mine would not work until I changed it.
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /index.php?q=$1 [L,QSA]
Also, is this all that is in your htaccess or is there other stuff in there?
