MODx Evolution 1.0 coming soon

The only remaining tasks for MODx Evolution 1.0.0 official release includes updating the non-English language files. The English base file in SVN is now more consistent, a bit less techy in tone in spots, and properly sorted. Please download the latest RC to get started. Some notable points:

• Each entry should be on one line.
• The project credit was changed completely.
• Many minor tweaks throughout.
• Sorting should be done using the equivalent of the unix "sort -n" command.
• No need to include the english.inc.php fallback; it does that automatically.
• The installer has changed a lot as well, it needs to be addressed also.

Updating your Language File
You can create a diff of the 0.9.6.3 English file attached in update 5 below with the current subversion release to see what’s been updated and added. A text editor that supports diff file highlights will be helpful here as many minor tweaks have been made.

There is also a super-helpful tool to identify which translations are missing or need updating in your language files. In order to successfully use it you need to create an empty, writable text file called tmp_checkLanguageFiles.txt in the same directory from where you run the tool. Choose English as one source and your language as the other source and it outputs a friendly report showing what’s missing. You can also download your local language file for both the manager and the installer by clicking the small down-arrows:

No worries Max, I just want people to be aware and have a few days notice, especially in the installer since it’s missing a lot of languages. MODX-220 and MODX-144 are going to make it too.

Max, ptches applied save the 4 problems in manager languages in commits 5101 and 5102, FYI.

I’ll look at the translation tool to check what’s missing and try to get a french translation out ASAP

Thanks for the sharp eye. Fixed in commit 5104.

For all translators:
For nice looking and concistency - use unix sorting "sort -n". It’s the sorting way. But it has one lack: If lang string starts with uppercase - this string will goes first. Just make sure that you made all strings to lowercase.

I can’t find solution to prevent this kind of sorting. key -n won’t work with key -f.


Use compare tools to see diffirencies. Good luck.

Thanks for keeping on this Max. The only file left I think is the chinese.inc.php file but it looks like it’s going to need a bit of manual intervention. Thanks for figuring out the sort -n suggestion; all the ones currently in the 1.0 SVN branch are now sorted that way.
