    Currently the international forums are broken up into several top level forums that branch into sub-forums. So an international communities don’t have a way of using the language appropriate forum as a starting page. They can use the anchor for the language of choice but then the sub-forums are still hidden from view. I know I am not making any sense...

    What I mean is this:
    Currently if i want to link directly to the Portuguese part of the forum I have to link tot he home page and scroll down. And then go into each top level section of the language forum which then branches out to several subs. It is very complicated and even I get lost.

    But if the language forums were in a parent we could have a direct link to the language of choice:
    http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php/board,225.0.html

    So each country/language would start from a single forum rather than from several top level forums.

    But without the need to go back to the home page to go to the other section of the language forum. This would be great for foreign MODx communities. What do you think?

      I see the point, lets hear what others comment. This wasnt a problem when we had couple of them, but now its indeed an issue. Not sure if Ryan already have plans? tongue

        It’s a great idea. We should get feedback from all the international communities before making any change though I can’t see negatives against it right now! If no objections are raised, we’ll start making the updates ASAP. Great suggestion; thanks. laugh

          I’ve moved this topic from the moderators board and think it’s a great idea. It would mean consolidating all the native language forums under their respective topics here, and not having subtopics under Internationalization plus the top-level anchor categories.

          Any objections?

            Not sure I understand correctly : you mean dispacth all foreign languages subforums by making them subforums of corresponding english forums instead of subforums of a language’s forum (eg all french general support post in a french subforum of general support instead of a General support under French forums) ?

            The tricky part will be to dispatch since local boards do not share the structure of the english ones...

              The current structure has 3 parents for each language. Which means that once inside "Documentation, Tutoriels et Traductions" you need to go back out to the root level to get to "Communauté".

              * Support
              -- FAQ,
              -- Installation
              -- Module, plugin
              -- snippets
              -- Design/Templates
              * Documentation, Tutoriels et Traductions
              -- Documentation
              -- Traduction
              -- Tutoriels
              * Communauté
              -- etc..
              -- etc..
              So in effect there are 3 French forums and not one parent French forum. It you have a link to the language forum you can only link to the main forum home and anchor down. I propose that it goes like this:

              * French Community Home
              ** Support
              -- FAQ,
              -- Installation
              -- Module, plugin
              -- snippets
              -- Design/Templates
              ** Documentation, Tutoriels et Traductions
              -- Documentation
              -- Traduction
              -- Tutoriels
              ** Communauté
              -- etc..
              -- etc..
              This way we can link to the language forum as a unit rather than an anchor on the main forum helping strengthen the national identity of each forum. Basically the only change would be to make the parent an active forum rather than an anchor.

                    Personally I can’t see any reason not to do this.
