Actually, it does work. If you install the latest version of the TinyMCE plugin (3.0.3) and go into the plugin configuration, you’ll see an option called Custom Parameters. This allows you to add additional parameters that aren’t currently being utilized by an instance of TinyMCE. Add the following and save the config:
directionality: "rtl",
theme_advanced_toolbar_align : "right"
The theme_advanced_toolbar_align parameter will only work for the themes that use the Advanced theme settings. Now, this doesn’t change the order of the buttons or the direction of the content within the popups; that would indeed likely require some hacking. I think most users won’t find this to be troubling.
There is some references in the wiki about a custom layout for the advanced theme. I’m sure doing that with some CSS might be easier than hacking it directly. I’d consult with Moxiecode on that though. The thing I’d be most concerned with is the ability to easily update the plugin. If Moxiecode continues to update TinyMCE as frequently as they do then updates will be a pain if you hack the core files of TinyMCE directly. It’s better to do it indirectly using the API that Moxiecode provides.

No prob, man! I’ll do a little bit more research into it. I’m working on getting out the 2.0.5 release right now so if there’s more I can do to better update it for RTL then I will.

Great, I hope 2.0.5 is 100% RTL compatible so i won’t be tickled to do hacks anymore. Thanks!
Hey Jeff, After a long time i used to work on something that makes updates easy for tinyMCE and making it RTL-friendly!, have to get it back here soon.

Its about RTL-perfection!, I know that we don’t die without a complete RTL-functionality on web but i beleive in RTL standards!
