If anyone could manage, we’ve now got a multi-language installer as well! I’m not sure that it’ll make the initial 096 release, but there is zero reason to keep us from releasing a point release soon thereafter. Please see the attached file.

Great, I’ll get down to translating !

Ok, one thing we need to address with the installation is the GPL license issue. We should not provide GPL translations in the localized installer language files. Users must always agree to the English version of the GNU GPL, which is the only officially recognized form of the license. Instead of translating the license in the MODx installation language file, we need the translators to provide verbiage and a link (or links) to the unofficial translations available at http://www.gnu.org/licenses/translations.html. This can be added to the $_lang[’license’] string, probably at the bottom, unless someone has a better alternative...

well what’s in the english file is not the GPL license itself, it’s the human readable form provided by creativecommons.org: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/GPL/2.0/ and it explicitly states that translations are not enough and not official.

i bothered to translate it. i noticed some mistakes in my wip but i gonna correct them.
also, it already contained a link to the full original GPL license so i guess it’s ok to translate the cc deed and keep providing a link to the full license.

Fair enough. However, why not utilize the translations already linked to from the GNU page rather than attempt our own translations? That way if any of the translations are found to need revision by the GNU, we have the benefit of their officially unofficial revisions?

Also, make sure you escape single-quotes in your translations and that your script validates/executes properly.

the translations links on the GNU page point to full or "nearly full" translations of the GNU GPL, which defeats the purpose of the cc dead which make sure it’s readable by an human, where human != lawyer laugh

maybe we could do both ? try to translate the cc deed, point to the original english GNU GPL, and also point to the proper unofficial translation (the link given on the GNU page) ?

Oh, I see...geesh, complicated enough? Anyhow, you can provide what makes the most sense in your locale for now. We’ll standardize this more for the 0.9.7 installer.
