It seems that the smoothgallery js file is version 2.0, but the maxigallery version you are using do not produce 2.0 syntax to the smoothgallery... so you probably have files from multiple versions currently.. Could you try switching back to the resource repository files if possible. And revert all files to that version, eg. delete assets/snippets/maxigallery/ folder and replace it with the files that you get from resource repository.

Do you have the [+maxigallery.managebutton+] placeholder in your custom galleryOuterTpl? If you dont, the button will not show up..
2. Services Page - Four images w/ custom template using slimbox, called by Ditto in a tabbed javascript. [[MaxiGallery? &manage_target=`[+id+]` &view_gallery=`[+id+]` &display=`embedded` &embedtype=`slimbox` &galleryOuterTpl=`containerTpl` &galleryPictureTpl=`picTpl`]] PROBLEM: Manage pictures button not displaying.
So In this case, only the picture management is seen as doubled? Add the &manage_target parameter to the call and do the management in some other document.. then it will show as single picture management.
3. Portfolio Page - Ajax driven. Calling the HTML and displaying it inside a certain div. The target galleries are running the javascript image switcher from the wiki. Here’s the call for this:[!MaxiGallery? &galleryPictureTpl=`mgGalleryPicture` &js=`mgJs`!][!MaxiGallery? &pictureTpl=`mgPicture` &display=`pictureview`!] PROBLEM: Displaying double. (Can this be remedied with a &manage_target parameter?)

I haven’t read this whole thread, but the problem you describe sometimes happens when you’re logged into a different domain name than the button/form is submitting to. For example, if you’re logged into the MODx Manager at yourdomain.com and the form has a base href of www.yourdomain.com. In that case when you click the Manage Pictures button the form is submitted to a domain name that doesn’t recognize you as logged in, and so the button just disappears.

Thanks for the help, but still not working. Now all the "Manage Pictures" buttons are there, but when I click them nothing happens - it doesn’t do anything. No gallery management shows up, it just kind of disappears. Do you know what that might be?
Hmm.. sounds odd.. do you have &manage_target parameter in that call that possibly points to a document that doesn’t have maxigallery in it?

Like I said, the CSS is needed for the smoothgallery view type and is all ok. I would suggest to replace all maxigallery files with the ones that are in resource repository, not just smoothgallery files.
But, the homepage with smoothgallery is still not working. I replaced the V2.0 files with the ones from the repository, but the JS is still writing that inline style in the <head>

Why is it writing that? I’ve never seen that before. It shouldn’t be writing that when it adds the JS/CSS files
&manage_target has worked for the most part. But, for the pages that I’m pulling in via AJAX are not parsing correctly. Here’s the error:
Change the snippet calls to cached in the chunk, eg. [[MaxiGallery...]] and have the ditto call be uncached (if the documents are displayed via Ditto, or change the document to be uncached. This is a know problem with PHx plugin.

In the portfolio gallery, there is a chunck {{gallery}} that has the MG call in it for the thumbs and pic on same page (from wiki tutorial):
