there’s a slight error in the instructions

[!EasyEvents_ListMini? &nodes=`21`!]

should read

[!EasyEvents_ListDetails? &nodes`21`!]

since there was no ListMini snippet created

if you did not follow the naming convention in the instructions
use the name of the non ajax snippet that you created.

I have reinstalled the entire package and now have a snippett EasyEvents_ListMini which contains the code from EasyEvents_ListMini.php as per instructions. Hasn’t made any difference.

I did document it wrong. Thanks for the the tip. Step 6 should read:

6. Create a new snippet called “EasyEvents_ListMini” (or what you like)

This new version of Easy Events uses ONE snippet to produce both the calendar and the list/details output - so I called it ListMini rather than the tandem ListDetails and MiniCalendar. Looks like I had some of the old terminology bouncing around my head.

Not sure what instructions you’re talking about as I couldn’t find "[!EasyEvents_ListMini? &nodes=`21`!]" anywhere. The example code is:


I copied this straight out of a functioning test install - with the exception of the node ID itself. Obviously you’ll have to modify that to your needs.

Just to be clear, you’re talking about following the instructions in the included PDF? Also, were you sure to define a node ID? (I am supposing yes since you didn’t mention it spitting out "node specification error."

The [!EasyEvents_ListMini? &nodes=`21`!] comes from my earlier post. That problem I have discovered is caused by a marquee on the same template/page as Easy Events. It seems the two don’t want to play together.

Any ideas other than the obvious get rid of the marquee where I want a calendar.

Looks like I picked a good time to give this a try (new release).

I got everything setup and working fine on my site, but I could use a little help figuring out how to modify the output to better match the solution i’m replacing. (http://www.ikemcg.com/scripts/pec/demo/ if you want to get general idea) More or less I want to enlarge the calendar to the page width and note the even name in the table for the days. Then have the details displayed under the calendar.

I looked through the code some, but I don’t overly understand how it functions enough to know where to dabble to get the results I want. Any suggestions on how I can go about accomplishing this goal?

The snippet provided, EasyEvents_ListMini, creates as the name implies, the day list or event details, and a mini calendar. When the mini calendar is created, a query is run to check for events for a day. NOT ALL EVENTS for a day are returned. Only the first because it is merely checking to see if there are ANY events that day. For the mini calendar, if it has 1 or 1,000 in a day, it doesn’t matter, the result is the same: it gets a link.

What’s needed is another snippet - and perhaps another class method to create a more robust large calendar like you describe. I recognize that there is a certain amount of demand for this - and I myself would like to use it. However, the project I needed to complete was driven by specific functionality and a specific deadline. I got what I needed done by the deadline. When I’ll be able to loop back in my "spare" time and add more bells and whistles I do not know...

Hum... I didn’t think sticking the calendar in a table and enlarging it would be all that hard, but I didn’t write it so I can’t say.

Do you know of any other calendar add-on for modx that would accomplish what im looking to do? I don’t need anything super elaborate, just the basics.

The calendar is already a table.

And no, it probably wouldn’t be terribly difficult. It comes down to a matter of how much time I have available. I needed features X,Y, and Z by Feb 29. I would like to have included features A,B, and C as well, but those weren’t "paying the bills" so to speak. Kind of the wish list ideas that didn’t make the cut. I’ll work on it more when I get discretionary time, but I haven’t had a lot of that lately.

If you’ve not looked at CALx yet, you might want to. It’s a fine add-on and I got some ideas from it. It just didn’t do exactly what I wanted so I did my thing.

I’m putting your request on the wish list though. I very much enjoy making my stuff better. Just wish I had time to do it more!

edit: In fact I’m getting some ideas now. Curse higher priorities!

If you tell me where to look I don’t mind editing it to create the desired affect. I just don’t know where to look to modify the looks. And I do understand the higher priority problem. I’m also affected by it right now... 3 essays and 2 tests all due this month
