Nice work. Yes, forcing a start date was my intent with this thing as well... I mean really, how can you have an event with no start date?

Does anyone have Easy Events currently functioning on their website so I can see it, and see how it works? I’d really appreciate seeing it - I’ve checked all the links here in the forum for working setups, but haven’t actually found any yet!

I am interested in EE for an organization that puts on competitions and clinics in 5 equine disciplines. I’d like to set EE up so that viewer initially goes to a page showing everything going on for each month, where they can then choose their discipline (and then possibly choose Clinics or Competitions within that discipline), showing just stuff going on for that discipline for each month. It’s not quite clear to me if it’s possible to set EE up this way...

Well... I can’t speak for anyone else, but we use it (which is why I wrote it!). In fact, not only do we use it on our college home page, but within the college we use it for:

Continuing Education
Alumni
and even our own IT department (though there’s not much there)

I do have a running calendar here (in norwegian). It´s an overview over rental of some mountain cabins, and no one have rented a cabin yet so there´s nothing in the calendar. But it will be during winter.

Thank you, both, for these great examples. It’s enormously helpful for me to be able to visualize the way it all works. Some facets are still kind of murky in my mind, but I’ll dig in and see if I can get somewhere. I’ve got it all set up (thanks to the great installation guide!) - just need to figure how to set it up the way I want.

I have a window of opportunity to explore Easy Events once again; and have two questions.

1. Does anyone have a working front end to allow specified users to add events? I’ve looked a NewsPublisher but it (or I) seems to have a problem with the template variables. There has been some mention of FDM but as yet I have been unable to get my head around it. (SORTED using FDM 30 Sept. 2008 20:00:00)

2. (For Jaredc ) Does/could Easy Events support recurring events?

One temporary solution for recurring events is just add them at the bottom of the calendar/coming events page (example: http://wrdf.org/index.php?id=9).

This client has three types of events: recurring, one-time reservation-wide events, and one-time special events that only she sponsors.

I set up the calendar page to include all three types, then set up the homepage coming events box to show just her special events (the homepage box may be presently empty, but you get the idea...).

That is one way of doing it. I was thinking of something like your "Library Toddler Time" which occurs every Wednesday. What I was hoping for was a way in which the user could say ’this event occurs every [Wednesday] at 10:00 am - 10:30 am for the next [# of months/weeks]’ and have the documents generated automatically.

No. There isn’t a way to do recurring events in EasyEvents. If there were, it wouldn’t be "easy" any more (at least for the developer!). It would be a nice feature though.

Such a usefull snippet. and it works ...

By the way, if ee would work with unixtime in the tv, it could be more compatible with ditto and its possibilities.
