Hi, I have two issues which occur with my modx install.

First, my server info: PHP 4.3.10, MySQL 4.0.21 and Apache/1.3.33 (Unix)
    host: www.aaaxideagosto.com.br
    Modx is installed under [siteroot]/modx/...
    the local path is /home/securespace/home/aaaxideagosto/www/...

    1. The first issue has to do with login. Since the first week of the install (in january), whenever I try to login, I have to type several times my user and password. I type them, then the manager page starts to load, then all os a sudden, either (i) one of the frames becomes the only visible page (including those scripts containers and such, each one of them at a time) or (ii) the page reloads the login screen, sometimes with the manager path, sometimes with one of the frames path on the address bar.

I’ve tried to reinstall (keeping the database), change users, change computers, tried it in windows, linux and mac, firefoz and IE, so it can only be an issue with modx (or my server configs)...

    2. THe other issue I had initially posted as a bug, and for that I appologise, as I was wrong, as it couldnt possibly be newslisting.

This has happened from a while ago up to now. I have no idea what it could be.

When opening any page of hte site, IE freezes (this has happenend on every IE, on many versions of IE and of Windows, on over 30 PCs). I’ve tried to redesign the javascripts (which worked perfectly before installing modx), tried to take out css, tried to exclude some snippets from running, etc, but I still have no idea what happens. I removed newslisting from the opening page, and now the first page doesn’t freezes anymore, but as Mark pointed me out, this couldn’t be the issue, as there’s no client side interaction going on. Just try opening the site for yourself.

Just ask me whatever you need to know to help me out on this matter. I’m willing to create a view-only manager user. I wonder if I install 0.9.2 this will magically fix the issues.....

    Thank All of you,

    Renato.

I see you are using friendly urls and friendly alias paths. Did you also rename the ht.access file in the manager folder, the one that only has the single line to turn off the Apache rewrite engine?

Well, I didn’t do anything with it, but in the manager folder, there’s a ".htaccess" file which turns off the rewrite engine...

Just checking, because sometimes people will rename the ht.access file in the site root to turn on the rewrite engine and enable the friendly URLs, but forget to rename the one in the manager folder to turn it off.

Have you tried running the site without friendly URLs at all? Including renaming the .htaccess files back to ht.access. I suspect server issues. Perhaps there are other .htaccess files, in the root of your site?

There’s only one ".htacces" in the root, which I transcibe below the uncommmented (thus active) lines:
            RewriteEngine On
            RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
            RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d

            RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /modx/index.php?q=$1 [L,QSA]

            BrowserMatch "MSIE" brokenvary=1
            BrowserMatch "Mozilla/4.[0-9]{2}" brokenvary=1
            BrowserMatch "Opera" !brokenvary
            SetEnvIf brokenvary 1 force-no-vary

and a series of "redirect permanent" lines, to redirect the old site pages to the new ones....

I’ll try to turn off the friendly URLs, but it is really a good thing which I wouldn’t like to not use.

            Thanks Susan...

Do you have any idea about the crashing problem?

I agree about the friendly URLs, but in troubleshooting anything from a child’s food allergies to a flaky website it’s best to start at the bare minimum and then see at what point the troubles start.

I turned off friendly urls, played with the site a little bit, but it made no difference at all, I then turned on friendly urls but let alias path off, but it is still the same.

THanks for helping me out on this, I’m totally lost.....

Can I know the MODx version that you’re using? Is it 0.9.1?
Yes, if you could provide Susan and me a temporary manager user, we will be glad to check em out for you.

                  Sincerely.

It would be better to PM that information! That’s not something I am at all comfortable seeing floating around free on a public forum.
