Could you check that in your config file /manager/includes/config.inc.php:

$database_connection_charset = 'latin1';

Which version of Php do you use ?

Why do you use : &mbstring=`iso-8859-1` in the page results for AjaxSearch (#75)

[!AjaxSearch? &language=`danish` &ajaxSearch=`0` &AS_landing=`75` &tplLayout=`tplLayout` &AS_showForm=`0` &mbstring=`iso-8859-1`!]

From the readme text file:

==== php_mbstring extension

    &mbstring [0 | 1]
      1 - mbstring extension available (default)
      0 - don't use php_mbstring extension
    
    The php_mbstring is supposed to be loaded. 
    If html charset page is "UTF-8", php_mbstring extension should be loaded for language which
    need a multi-byte representation. 
    If the extension is not available for the PHP server, some charset like ISO-8859-1 (latin1) could be used.
    With UTF-8, a message "Php_mbstring extension is required" when &mbstring=`1` and the extension not loaded.
    In this case load the extension or set the mbstring parameter to 0 if you couldn't load the extension

In your case have you the Php mbstring set or not (look at your phpInfo) ?
If not (the extension is not available for the PHP server) set &mbstring=`0`
You should use 0 or 1 not `iso-8859-1` (which is interpreted as 1).

Have you installed the searchHighlight plugin ?

Hey coroico

~~I don’t have the searchHighlight plugin, i will try to find it and install it right now.~~
Was wrong! I do have this plugin, but why do you ask? Highlight on search results works in my browser.

I tryed having the mbstring set to 1 and 0, it did not fix my problem with chars though. ( &mbstring=`iso-8859-1` was me being desperate hehe!)

From the wiki documentation:

IMPORTANT NOTE:

* Your database character set is different of utf8:

1. the php_mbstring extension for the multibyte support should be loaded. Check the phpinfo file of your server
2. the $database_connection_charset variable of your /manager/includes/config.inc.php file should be set with the MySql database character set (not the collation) of your database. e.g: latin1, latin2, ...

Searching for words containing characters like "å,ä,ö,Å,Ä,Ö" require to configure your editor to avoid entity encoding. With TinyMCE, for that, change the entity_encoding parameter from "named" to "raw" in the configuration tab and save again your documents.

For instance you get a weird character when you search "tale". This is due to the fact that tinyMCE has encoded the word både as både.

Before to change the entity encoding parameter of tinyMCE, do a backup of your database. You should probably be obliged to reopen and save all your documents to take into accounts of the tinyMCE changes. So do a backup before start it.

Hello everybody, hope it will not be offtopic.

I’ve no mbstring php installed, so i put &mbstring=`0` in my call, BUT!!!
it still showing AjaxSearch error: php_mbstring extension required.

I’m stacked.

You should set &mbstring=`0` on your two snippet calls. The first one which display the input form and the second one which display the results.

Check your snippet calls. I haven’t any particular concern with this parameter.
