yes this is right. When I call more than one parent I have the problem with all the browsers, when I call one parent only IE win, Firefox Win, camino, firefox mac work fine. in safari the problem occurse permanent.

Safari has actually the same problems with the links you mentioned in http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php/topic,5357.300.html this post.

Connection charset in config is set to utf8 the db is utf8_unicode_ci. MySQL is version 5.0.41

I have a strange display problem with the search results in MODx 0.9.6.1. In most browsers the search result are displayed properly, except I use the search in more than two Parent document and with safari 3.0 the problem persists anyway.

So are longtitle and title displayed like “PortrÃ¤t” onstead of “Porträt”. I have adjusted the config.inc.php to utf8 and I use the 1.6.2d version of Ajaxsearch. Has anyone any solution to this problem?

I have done the same tests as you. I haven’t this issue with FF2.0 and IE6.

Use " Porträt récit " as two searchterms together on http://www.wangba.fr/accueil_livres_voyage.html

the snippet call is : [!AjaxSearch? &opacity=`0.9` &parents=`28,47` &moreResultsPage=`33` &extract=`1` &showMoreResults=`1` &ajaxMax=`5`!]

In the showMoreResults as in the linked page the searchterms are all hightlighted (Thks to Sotwell)

The current version which runs is the future 1.7 of ajaxSearch (coming soon). But it hasn’t no major differences with the beta 1.6.2d concerning the display of title or description. The code is rather simple : the fonction doSearch get the row from the database and the row[’title’] is displayed.

So I have downloaded Safari 3.0. (523.15) on my laptop (xp) and i have done the same test and i get the same issue as you. But this issue occurs with one or two search terms.
As the results displayed in the moreResults page are correct with correct accented characters, i suspect the display of the ajax output.

I don’t know why we have this issue with Safari, but as this web browser is still a beta version, i do not investigate any more about that for the moment. Have you search on the web if others users has the same display issue with javascript windows ? I could be due to Safari wink

Safari 3 has not integrated Webkits latest JS implementation. It has many problems with most JS libraries and almost all Rich Text Editors have issues in Safari 3. It was shipped as Apple wanted to ship the "new" browser with Leopard so it went out the door incomplete and full of bugs with JS. When Safari 3 gets its next version update these should mostly be addressed as Webkit has addressed most of the issues relating to the DOM and JS libraries that use them.

Try it and let me know if it’s ok. If yes, perhaps, you could invite me in your library, i am ready for an hour of wine tasting

Hmm, that sort of worked. The search results now show up in the desired place on a different page, but the results still also show up in the search DIV itself. Could I modify the snippet to not show the search results there?

Sorry I did a mistake.
In [!AjaxSearch? &ajaxSearch=`0` &showResults=`0` &AS_landing=`z`!] use &AS_showResults=`0` instead of &showResults=`0`.

But why do you haven’t any extracts in the results page ? do you use &extract=`0` ?

It’s beautiful, it works great! I think there was a miscommunication from the last post - the search results ARE being returned on the page (ID) specified. It’s perfect. The only thing I need to figure out now, is how to not get the search results page to show up as a blog post. If I un-publish the page (so it doesn’t show as a blog post), it obviously doesn’t work.

I’m wondering, is there a way to display some of the text of the blog posting underneath the title in the search results?

I am not sure if I understand your question correctly, but this should be as simple as changing the template for the search results page to something different than what you have your blog posts set to. Also, make sure to uncheck "Show in Menu" and under "Page Settings" uncheck "Searchable" for the search-results page.

By default it pulls from the content, however if the content was not where it located the search term, it will appear empty. However, if you place text in the "Introtext" field for the blog, it will use this as the description under the title in the search results.

I see, that makes sense. I do have text in the "introtext" field - and I still do not see that text show up, but I’ll do some more investigating to see if I can get it working, it’s pretty low priority. Thank you and everyone else who chimed in - for your help!
