I see i misunderstood the question..
indeed you can change the order in the second tab of the "edit template" view (under resources)

    ...

but as far as i know it is not possible to have one or more TV content entry forms before the standard ’document content’ textarea ...
    or is it ?

BTW in answer to your query:
You know what would be good to have here? Some way to organise/group template variables within the manager - I’ve set up blocks that the user can toggle on and off and it would be great to be able to have each set of associated TV’s for each block in it’s own box with a title on it. Just a thought...

You could have a look at this:

Im not shure it does what you ask but it should enable you to change te names/titles of the default variables (long title, document content) .. maybe it could do more things; it uses jsquery, so you might look what it can do for in terms of customizing the content entry form ..

Yes you can, that’s the whole point of TVs : if you don’t see the additionnal fields, that’s because you did not associate them with the template you’re using...

If you need to hide the default content field (you don’t need it), use the HideEditor plugin smiley
If you display it, on the other hand, it’ll always be displayed before the TVs

Yes , thanks - I’m already using that to hide bits of the manager screen but I haven’t looked into it far enough to see if it can be used for grouping.
