Is there an add-on for MODx that would support subscription-based paid access to portions of my site? It would need to manage renewals, expirations, etc.

I tried various searches to find such a module but came up empty.

    Thanks,
    Tim

Yes. But you first have to pay for access to it... tongue

In all seriousness, no there is not one that is readily available as a standalone module. I’d assume you’re planning on using PayPal?

Do we actually really have that module Ryan?

That was my sarcasm not translating. wink

I’ve got a custom solution made that and is no where close to ready as a standalone module that works with PayPal for a club dues system. It handles pending payments, renewals and new memberships, creating accounts as appropriate. It also fills out the renewal/payment form for you for renewing members with their existing data. It’d be trivial to get it to go to recurring/subscription payments, too.

But again, it’s now where close to ready as a standalone module (and is still having some tweaks made, too). It would take a lot of work before I’d remotely feel comfortable releasing any portion of it, much less it in full.

Ryan, thanks for the info. Unfortunately, my needs for this particular site are immediate. Otherwise, I’d offer to help you test & develop the module. It will be a welcome addition when it’s available.

              Thanks,
              Tim

Here is how I did it, but my solution was customized and isn’t suitable for release as a standalone system.

                      1. Set up an online store and add the site access/subscription as a product
                      2. Create a plugin that uses the login event
                      3. When a user logs in, check the store database to see if they have purchased access.
