    stupid question: Are the thumbnails in the folder? They are named kind of ".thumbnail_NAME.jpg". If not, it seems to be a problem with the image library, if yes the call for them is wrong. In the database there are some entries for that (if I remember correct in modx_system_settings), look if these settings are correct (or look in administration->settings).

      No, the thumbnails are not in the folder. I have about 200 images (.jpg and .gif) but no thumbnails have been created.

      BTW, I have three installations of MODx, on Solaris and Windows XP. None of which created thumbnails.

      So in addition to "Resource path" and "Resource URL" (which I believe were set correctly), what settings should I look for?

        Look in your database (phpMyAdmin or similiar), table modx_systemsettings, there should be two entries:

        rb_base_dir (relative path)
        rb_base_url (URL)

        they point to the assets folder, e.g. path/to/modx/assets/ and http:://www.yourdomain.com/assets/

        I´m not quiie sure if these are the responsible settings, but it´s worth a try...

          Thanks, MadeMyDay.

          My settings are like what you mentioned. The only difference is that I use IPs instead of URLs. Don’t think that should matter.

          Any more thoughts?

            I’m no expert on this, but I would be thinking the resource path is wrong

            As Banzai mentioned the resource path should look somthing like /home/yourdomain/assets/ or /var/www/html/assets/

            This is you path on your server, not the external IP address or domain name. It is the internal path to the folders, where as resource URL would be like http://yourdomain/assets or http://static-ip/assets

            If you have the external IP address in both, it won’t work as the resource path would be invalid.

              Sorry, but still not working  huh.  My settings:

              Resource Path: /home/[[modx_dir]]/assets
              Resource URL: http://[[static_ip]]/assets

              directory permission 777, owned by the modx user. Platform is Solaris. I have another modx server install on Windows XP but cannot see the thumbnails either.

              Any helps are appreciated.

                I don’t know if this would help you, but I always just put "/assets/" in the Resource URL.

                As for the Resource Path, could you select

                Administration ->
                View system info ->
                Next to phpInfo(), click on View.

                Near the bottom of the page, could you tell us what is next to DOCUMENT_ROOT?

                  As I said, the Ressource URL/path can´t be the problem, because you wouldn´t see anything if they wouldn´t be correct.

                  Look in your database with phpMyAdmin, table system_settings und look for the entries rb_path, rb_URL. I don´t know when they are created (suppose install), but after moving the site to a server e.g. they are not set again. See attached picture of my local installation, I suppose these paths are used by the editor. So they must be correct if the editor shall work correctly.

                  If that doesn´t work please post the php.info.

                    rb_path and rb_URL are set by Resource Path and Resource URL (respectively) in System configuration in Administration under the Interface and editor settings tab.
