TinyMCE not loading the 'Advanced edit' pop-ups properly

I hope he is able to figure it out - as this is going to prevent me from using Modx full stop for any client sites - as I can’t risk them not being able to edit their content fully if they use Vista

Could it be some kind of security setting in your Vista? A firewall or proxy or something not allowing the javascript function to process?

I wondered if it was anything like that - so I made sure all windows security features were still switched off (I don’t use any of it as it’s rubbish anyway) - and made sure the Security software I do use is instructed to ignore all activity from the sites in question (and indeed fully disabled it to test - with no change)

We find MODx on windows is a great setup, but sometimes the initial setup of PHP and MySQL Complicate things.

Could you let me know what your exact setup is? I have a Vista Virtual Machine and can try and replicate your setup or provide you with a short guide on how to setup MODx and PHP / MySQL.

my site is on apache servers with i believe php v5 running

I have Vista on my pc which I work from and use to access and edit the site

It has been running perfectly well for over 6 months - it’s only this week that the problem has arisen

hmm, I can’t seem to be able to replicate this problem on my Vista machine.

If everything was running fine and then just suddenly stopped working, it would mean something has changed, and that might not entirely be a Vista issue since you’ve been using Vista all along with no problems, and you said you have updates turned off.

I would suggest the following for starters:

- Clear all your browser caches (FF, IE, Safari, etc.)
- Run an antivirus program as well as a SpyBot equivalent.

Something might be messing up with your browsers on your particular machine. Have you tried another machine that has Vista installed to see if the problem is still there?

I have a very robust (and latest version of) Internet security suite (Kaspersky) that has kept me clean and bug free for several years so don’t suspect that something got through past that.

I don’t have another machine with vista, I’ll try clearing the cache on the browsers but IE and Safari are rarely used.

Thank you to everyone who has responded and tried to help with this. I have now, after much hair-pulling and emails to Microsoft and Kaspersky got to the bottom of the issue.

Kaspersky’s Internet Security 2010 ’Anti-Banner’ (new to this edition, and just this week had a new set of rules added by Kaspersky in a daily update) is embedded within every browser located in the system - and exclusively to Vista, it seems it is not de-activated when the program is switched off - it behaves in more of a ’stand alone’ capacity - and so when I shut down Kaspersky to rule that out of the problem, nothing changed!!

So armed with this info, I added my url to the ’trusted urls within it’s own section (not universal, every feature needs to be told it seems!) and problem sorted!.

I am very grateful for all the help, and I am very relieved to not have to find another CMS to use instead!.
