Support/Comments for TinyMCE

Yeah, I apologize about some of the quirks. Alot of things changed when I rewrote the code so...bit of growing pains here and there. Definitely need to pay attention to the user settings as well as the plugin configuration. Those are the two areas that have changed the most. As much as I would have like to maintain backwards compatibility with old settings...well...just wasn’t realistic. Kind of like going from Windows 98 to XP....a little compatibility but some areas that aren’t.

I am using 2.0.8 on MODx 0.9.5 and have created a way for front-end users to create and modify galleries with MaxiGallery. You can see it here:

The basics of it is that it is using a TV to pull the TinyMCE RTE for the ’content’ area of NewsManager to create the gallery.

I am having some postings, http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php/topic,12163.0.html that people are having some problems, it appears mostly to be with the new version of 2.0.9 for the front-end user. I am wondering if something has changed between the versions that won’t allow it now?

Can you shed any insight on this for me?

Problem with help language on tinymce toolbar help.

Tinymce is correctly called (with language : "fr"),
on the main toolbar the help mouse over is in french.... but on all other plug in toolbar (like paste one...) the help is in english... but all the plug in get the french help available !

Why plug in does’nt used alos their french file like tinymce main ? Is there anotehr specific langage configuration for plug in ?

@totor: I’ll look into that and test it. I’m very close to releasing a 2.1.0 version of the plugin. Might have been fixed already.

@ejcross: I’ll read up on that post and see what’s going on. I haven’t used MaxiGallery yet so...probably will need to play with it some.

Bravado, see this post, someone got it working by editing plugin configuration I guess. But it’s about getting the RTE to show up in front-end for NewsManager snippet, I guess something has changed in 2.0.9 that affected front-end richtext TV?

One more question a little bit simple for you I guess. I run 0.9.5 and TinyMCE 2.0.9. I try to configure the advanced theme so that the toolbar shows up at the top of the content. I tried to modify tinymce.functions.php then editor_template.js in advanced theme folder... but can’t change it. The toolbar still shows up at the bottom.

May this configuration will be possible with 2.1.0 ? If so... I can wait

There is a styling bug (in my opinion) in TinyMCE (and it’s not solved with 2.1.0 :’( )

Example: I write some text in a paragraph, then by clicking at "indent" the paragraph will be wrapped into the blockquote element. That’s ok.

After that I can’t give the blockquote any style defined in the style drop-down. Why I can click and "activate" elements at the "path" in status bar but can’t set styles there to OUTER elements? It sets the style only to inner elements.
(Yes I know that I can set it in HTML view, but how to tell this to dumb clients? )

I get this error when saving any document using the QuickEdit popup editor :

The document whose alias is "actions" has ID 2 whereas I have the same error for all documents.

What’s wrong ?

Appears to be a problem with the "parent" field...

...AND `parent`= AND...
