For the love of God. I’m on the verge of a nervous breakdown
I spend "evenings" working on the problem Upload image failed, internal error (in FCKeditor)

I can upload images from within the manager
    Checked the assets/images folder...777

File manager path: /home/usr1/####/public_html/ I also used /home/usr1/####/public_html/assets/
    Resource path: /public_html/assets/images/ I also used /public_html/assets/assets/images/

Is there a way to find out where the editor tries to upload the files to?

    Thanks
    Steve

I would just like to second Steve’s request! I keep getting a: Error, "failed to upload file, internal error..." in FCK editor when I am trying to upload to the assets/file folder

This is interesting. I have two different sites that I’ve been working on, and I get the Internal error on one, but not the other.

Also, it seems that I only get the internal error message when I’m uploading to directories inside of the normal assets/images directory.

Under the tools/configuration in the manger,

make sure that these locations match up:

interfaces & features : make sure the resource path and resource URL are accessing directories that exist. usually "/public_html/assets/" resource URL would just be "/assets/"

file manager path: should be "public_html/to the/files/" basically make sure the directory exists.

this can happen if you move or rename the installed modx directory. While i’m not sure if this entirely the reason for your problem, it has fixed this for me in the past.

Keep in mind that a path will have its root at the root of your server’s file system, while a url will have its root at your web root (where your MODx installation’s index.php is).

For example, on my local dev machine, my path is /Applications/MAMP/htdocs/1.0-5299/assets/ while on my remote live server it’s /home/sottwell/public_html/assets/

This was torquing me off too...

I’m on Evo 1.0.0 GA, and I kept getting permissions errors on the uploads... I’d already done a
              chmod 777 -R assets/

But no dice. I tried changing permissions on a LOT of images directories, but none of these directories seemed to be correct:

              user@domain [~/public_html/user]# find . -name 'images'
              ./manager/media/style/MODxLight/images
              ./manager/media/style/MODxCarbon/images
              ./manager/media/style/MODx/images
              ./manager/media/style/MODxGreen/images
              ./manager/media/browser/mcpuk/images
              ./manager/media/browser/mcpuk/connectors/php/images
              ./images
              ./assets/js/images
              ./assets/images
              ./assets/snippets/wayfinder/examples/slidingdoors/images
              ./assets/snippets/wayfinder/examples/mollio/images
              ./assets/snippets/ajaxSearch/images
              ./assets/modules/quick_edit/images
              ./assets/templates/modxhost/images
              ./assets/templates/default/images

Funny note... changing the root of the site to 777 caused it to die... chmod 755 restored the site’s functionality...

THE SOLUTION lay within the configuration in the manager.
Tools --> Configuration --> Interface & Features --> File Base Path

This value MUST be an absolute file path, e.g.
              /home/user/public_html/your_site/assets/

When the value was listed just as "assets/" the FCKedit image upload function failed. Hope this helps someone.

I too am going crazy with this! Despite using a logon from the admin group, the window for uploading tells me I don’t have permission to create a folder (permissions on parent folder is 777!). It also tells me that a .jpg is not an allowed file type, even though it’s listed as allowed under the ’Uploadable Impage Types’ option. And finally, uploading a file without an extension as about the only thing that looks like it might work, but then I get the same error as everyone else on this thread.

If I change my Resource Path to anything but /assets/, I get a PHx error, so I can’t see that it can be set to anything else. I’m really stuck and feel like I’m bashing my head against a brick wall with MODx in general for the past few days. Really need some help. sad

Maybe you need to change PHx’s settings? I’m not a fan of the Evolution PHx at all, so I hate catering to it. Maybe you should see if everything else works when you change the setting, then tweak PHx if needed...

                    Hi,

I too am having a problem with uploading images via the CMS error message "failed to upload file - internal error".

The thing is it was working fine yesterday so can’t understand why it would suddenly not work?

                    Any ideas?

Could be characters in the filename that it doesn’t like?
