      Sorry I forgot
      <base href="[(site_url)]" />
      in template code, now works fine wink

      Thanks for that fix there. I had the same issue.

      Also, to answer Wendy’s question, yes, the Manager Login Startup works fine with Alias Paths on. laugh

        I seem to have a problem with SEF urls since I ungraded my website to version 0.9.1

        If I set friendly alias path: to yes some pages within folders are not found, if you turn it off everything seems to work fine. I have found that those pages that are themselves folders from the root seem to still work however on either setting

        I tried adding <base href="[(site_url)]" /> to the head of my template but this has made no difference. I am using the drop menu snippet and also have a couple of hard coded links, e.g. [~3~] and both give the same error.

        Please let me know if you require additional information

          Is there somewhere we can view your broken links edge? I cannot determine the source of your issue without at least seeing the source code for the generated pages, where the links are broken.

          Also, can you further explain what you mean by this:

          Finally, did you make sure and refresh the site cache after you added the base href tag?

            Hi Jason,

            Thank you for the response. The site is my own website that I am developing which is www.limesharp.co.uk. I have tried turing off Friendly URLs also. I notice on the links (after refreshing site) that in Firefox (logged in as manager) when I hover over a link I see http://www.limesharp.co.uk/index.php?id=3 and when I do the same in Internet Explorer i get http:///index.php?id=3 which of course will not work.

            I am assuming the <base href="[(site_url)]" /> is entered as is, that is you dont actually put replace this code with actual site details

            I can give you the password to the site, if required to take a look, but I would not wish to put this on the forum for obvious reasons.

            The code from the part of my template is as follows

            <link rel="stylesheet" href="/assets/templates/default/main.css" type="text/css" media="screen" />
            <base href="[(base_url)]" />
            </head>

            <body>
            <div id="top">
            <div id="topnav"><div id="contact"><a href="[~7~]">contact us</a></div>

            <div id="email">email us</div>
            <div id="logo"></div>
            </div></div>

            <div id="wrapper">
            <div id="masthead"></div>

            <div id="mainmenu">
            [[DropMenu? &menuName=`mainmenu` &startDoc=`0` &levelLimit=`1` &topnavClass=`main` &hereClass=`current` &selfAsLink=`1`]]
            </div>
            <div id="content">
            [*#content*]

            Appriciate your feedback, I would like to build this site without having to pass the task to other colleagues so I can uderstand Modx and PHP a bit better myself

              It appears that you are using the [(base_url)] instead of [(site_url)] in your BASE tag’s href attribute (double check the code you posted from the template). The base_url setting does not include the protocol and hostname, and is simply the absolute path from the web server document root to the directory where the site is installed. This is not a valid value for the base href attribute, even though FF accepts it. The site_url includes the protocol and host name and using it in your template should solve the issues you are seeing.

              HINT: place the base tag above any element in the header that references a path and you can rely on relative paths there as well...

              NOTE: usage of the base tag is not absolutely necessary if want to use the [(base_url)] ( or [(site_url)] ) in front of any relative links in your content; it’s just more convenient than coding it into every href and src attribute.

                Not an issue with 0.9.1 specifically but...

                Is there a link to MODx 0.9.1 that uses friendly urls?

                Being on dial-up, I use WGET instead of DL’ing to local then UL’ing to server and WGET doesn’t like the ’..index.php?action=dlattach..’.

                Noticed Softpedia has 0.9.0,guess I could wait for 0.9.1 to get uploaded there.

                  wget deals with those types of URLs just fine. The problem is that the shell tries to expand metacharacters such as ’?’

                  The solution is simply to enclose the entire URL in singe quotes on the command line

                    Thanks Jason,

                    All sorted now. Yes I had base URL instead of site URL. Since the correction to my template everything seeems to work perfectly across both browsers, with or without DEF URL’s.

                    Thanks for your help. grin

                      When using 0.9.1 and the DropMenu snippet, it seems to only use the pagetitle for the links, and will not use the menutitle unless I hard-code it in (around line 230, replace ’pagetitle’ with ’menutitle’).

                      I’ve tried using a default 0.9.0 DropMenu snippet (with the 0.9.1 installation) and get the same problem, so I don’t think it’s the snippet.

                      Can anybody confirm this? I’ve confirmed it on the two sites that I’ve upgraded to 0.9.1. I have a half-dozen sites still on 0.9.0 and they seem to behave fine. All sites on the same server in case you’re curious (SuSE LAMP).

                      Thanks!
