Thanks bob, that helped. I now get the formatted text on the client edit page.
I still am not able to edit the TV or the text.
I am trying to setup the client edit page to list the TV’s or text.
Something they can click on or edit on that screen.

When clicking the "Edit Resource" button I get this:

MODx Content Manager - \nCreate and do more with less

I’m afraid I don’t really understand what you’re trying to do (or why), but it will be extremely difficult to have front-end editing of the FAQ content (if that’s what you want) unless the user is looking at the FAQ content document (not the FAQ). In that case, they’ll see the Q: and A: entries unformatted.

If you’re just trying to get them to edit a TV that has nothing to do with the FAQ, I’d suggest removing the FAQ snippet call until you get things sorted (just put a space after the first bracket or the snippet tag -- that way the tag will be printed and the snippet will not execute).

I’ve been using Jot as a FAQ generator. With your choice of "accordion" javascript libraries, it works great. Single-page management, easy tpl customization.

I’ve gone a step further and begun work on extending Jot (calling it Notes), adding a few fields for position (useful with Javascript drag-and-drop sorting) and category. At this point, you can make multiple calls using the same tagId (or none) but different category parameters to get a group of items for each category. Using calls with different tagIds and different categories can result in a two-level nested list.

Eventually I intend to break up the actual Jot processing, so it can suck up the entire page in one query and separate the category groups and their category headings into discrete groups of output, and either output the whole thing in its final form (like Wayfinder) or as placeholders for each category and each corresponding group of items.

            Susan,
Would you be able to share your code with me or give me some examples?
I have been working on this a couple hours every night and not getting what I need.
I have searched the forms and looked else where, but just can’t get the QuickManager view I want.

I would really like to get the client to a single page with links to each different section of content. Edit that section and save it.

A good way to do that is to create an unpublished resource "Admin". Make it the default login page for your editor when he logs in to the Manger. This page will have links to various manageable pages, such as a MaxiGallery admin page, or a PubKitBlog management page, or a Jot/Notes page that is self-managing for logged-in manger users.

Add a button for this "Admin" page to the QuickManager menu; and probably disable the "Manager" button as well. You can also disable QM for specified pages; perhaps the Home page or any other pages you don’t want the editor user to mess with.

Many thanks to Jared of Jared Loman Creative for this and many other excellent ideas on front-end administration (his are pretty, too!), and for inspiring the development of the Notes extension to Jot.

As far as Notes goes, I’m about to submit it to the Extras repository as version 1.0, and put a demo of it in action on my site.

                Thanks Susan,

I can get the client to login to the ’admin’ page.
I have a link setup, but it’s not working.
The link will open the content in a browser screen, but I cannot edit.
It just shows the content in the browser window.

Can you show me the code you use to create a link that works with the Quickmanager screen?

This is the code I am using:
                <h3>Link 1</h3>
                <a href="[~7~]">click here to edit FAQ's</a>

                Thanks

Thanks Susan, I am almost there.

I have a group of committee members setup.
They each have their own resource and they are set up using TV’s.

I created an Admin page with links to each of those resources:
                  <h3>Committee Members:</h3>
                  <ul>
                  <li><a href="[~31~]" target="blank">Scout Master</a></li>
                  <li><a href="[~32~]" target="blank">Cub Master</a></li>
                  <li><a href="[~34~]" target="blank">Committee Chair</a></li>
                  <li><a href="[~33~]" target="blank">Treasurer</a></li>
                  <li><a href="[~29~]" target="blank">Webmaster</a></li>
                  </ul>

When I log in as the Editor I am directed to this Admin page and I see the list of committee members.
When I click the link I go to a "blank page". I then hover at the top of the page and click on "Edit resource" and the resource opens and I can edit the TV’s.

The problem is this "blank page".
How do I skip that and go directly to editing the resource?

                  Thanks
                  BG66

                    Do you mean target="_blank"?

                      Susan, I missed that typo.
I tried it again and it’s still the smae.
