    I am fairly new to MODX but have built a couple sites with it.
    I am trying to create a manager user for the client and give them simple access to edit some pages.
    I have set it up using WebLogin and WebLoginPE, but the page still has too much detail and access for them.
    Does ManagerManager help with this? It seems like it is just for changing names and titles.

    One page for example is an FAQ pages for the clients product.
    I would like for them to have access and be able to add, edit or delete the FAQ’s as needed.

    Are there any good examples or instructions on how to do this?

    Thanks

      I use Jot for such things as FAQ lists. Logged-in Manager users can view the form and the moderation links; no need for web user posting or editing access in this case.

      You can create a manager user that gets sent to a specified front-end page on login, and use the QuickManager extensively. You can control a lot of QM’s visibility and functionality from its configuration. You can even easily add another menu item to its menu, as well as removing the link to the Manager itself.

      This is being used on a site where an "Admin" link added to the QM menu goes to an unpublished page (logged-in Manager users can see unpublished pages) with links to a number of PubKitBlog management pages and pages controlled with Jot. You can also use WebLoginPE to let your manager user add and manage web users from the front-end; links to these pages would be added to the "Admin" page. No need for this manager user to ever see the Manager!

        Thanks Susan,

        I setup the Plugin QuickManager+ but don’t know where to go from there.
        How do you customize it?
        How do you login?

        I just can’t find any good tutorials or help online.

        I followed the readme file to this point and got these detailed instructions:
        "How to use
        Just login, open frontend and enjoy! "

        I cannot login, open or enjoy...
        Sorry, just frustrated.

          For the FAQs, take a look at EZfaq, which keeps the content in a really simple format in an unpublished document. It’s pretty hard to screw up:

          Q:How much is 2 + 2?

          A:4

          Q:Is MODx expensive?

          A:No, it’s free

          Q:END-FAQ

            I presumed you were using 1.0.3 of MODx, which comes with QuickManager already installed (as does 1.0.2).

            In any case, once it’s installed log in as Manager, then go to the front-end. Move the mouse up near the top of the browser window, and the QM menu will appear.

            To configure, edit the plugin and use the Configuration tab.

              Bob and Susan,

              Thanks for the last two replies.
              I am using 1.03 and QuickManager is working.
              I guess I just need to figure out how to configure it.
              I don’t want the client getting into anything other than updating content.

              Thanks again

                I am still having trouble getting this to work.
                I can get the QuickManager working but I have too much code showing up in the edit screen.
                I do not want the client to see the chunks and snippets.

                I have created a simple FAQ page with just text as Bob suggested.
                Do I have to put all the content I want them to edit in a simple doc format like the FAQ’s?

                I have tried creating a new page resource and added buttons, but that is asking for another password.

                Any help is appreciated.

                Thanks

                  I think you should create template variables (TV) and put your chunks and snippets to those TVs. Then you can create user roles and hide those TVs from end users. Alternatively you could create set of templates and put your chunks and snippets straight in to the template code.

                    If the content you want your users to be able to edit contains MODx tags, there is no way they can be shown the content to edit without the tags. For that reason, I always take steps to avoid MODx tags in the content, breaking it up if necessary into blocks of text using rich text TVs, and building the structure in the template. I try to arrange things so the editor has nothing more complicated to do than establish headings and paragraphs, with the occasional list where appropriate.

                      ok, still not getting this.
                      Maybe the problem is I am trying to use EZfaq also?

                      my FAQ page has this code:
                      <h2 style="text-align: center;">Frequently Asked Questions</h2>
                      <p>[[EZfaq? &docID=`7`]]</p>
                      <p align="left"><span><br /></span></p>
                      <p>{{spec_sheet_download}}{{repair_form_download}}</p>

                      on document 7 I have the Questions and Answers.
                      Q:...
                      A:...

                      Q:...
                      A:...

                      I have a TV [*FAQ*] with the same questions in the Default Value.

                      I then have a Template "Client edit page" with the following:
                      [*favico*]
                      {{Client edit page header}}

                      <div id="singlecolumn">

                            <h3>QUICK LINKS:</h3>
                            <li>[*FAQ*]</li>
                            </ul>

                      </div>

                      When I preview that page it just shows all of the questions jammed together.
                      I then use QuickManager+ and it gives me a manager type page.

                      I am trying to understand TV’s, but still don’t get it.
                      Help?
                      Thanks
