So... a few more question now come to mind:

Do you want to display the sorting (by created on, published or edited on dates)?

Do you want an archived "older posts" section below the main 6? If so, how many do you want there?

Do you plan to use Rich Text TVs for the posts?

Do you plan to use NewsPublisher to create the posts, or the backend manager?

Yes, I want to display the date of creation and also, I just thought about it now, it would be convenient if it displays the author name (so if somebody clicks on the author, all his articles can show up) and if possible his thumbnail pix. I don’t want edited date. I just want one date.

Do you want an archived "older posts" section below the main 6? If so, how many do you want there?
I would want to have archived section in the menu on the right hand side. As I said before, I would rather prefer archives sorted out according to the author. I would want all the articles created by the author.

Do you plan to use Rich Text TVs for the posts?
Sure. Also, I was wondering, I have seen this in Joomla, they have a small module which can convert the article into pdf. Is there something like that here.

Do you plan to use NewsPublisher to create the posts, or the backend manager?
my authors are not very computer savvy. So, I think using NewsPublisher would be ideal.

Why do people point to their wrists when asking for the time, but don’t point to their crotch when they ask where the bathroom is?

I think I forgot mention something. I just want like the summary of each post in the front page (say 100 words) and then when somebody clicks on more link, it displays the whole post.

All should be doable with the upcoming 0.9.1 release version of NewsListing. The only thing lacking is the grouping of posts by author, but that should be doable as well in a future version. And knowing Mark, that means near future. smiley

My suggestion is to use 6 newslisting snippet for each columns. This snippet will have max number to 1. with that it will have an archive link on it too, and you can define your own 6 different chunks as atemplate for the newslisting.

You have two things that you need to hack or modified:

              • Make the newslisting to be able to output from specific starting point such as phpMyAdmin. - I bet you only need one snippet var and change the sql query to include this var as a "limit" argument.

              • Making the archive link to be able to output a specific articles listing based on ecah author. I bet it’s gonna be hard to do this, but it’s do able wihout having to hack into the core.

I’m assuming this solution doesn’t care that one author cannot have multiple articles being listed at the frontpage.

              Hope that helps!

              Sincerely,

Mark, this one comes very close to what I want. It is almost there. I am sure we can do some fine tuning. So, did you tweak the snippet or did you create tables or is it all in CSS?

That’s all CSS, floating DIVs from entries all in a single folder.

What happens if I have different folders? Does it still act the same way. Maybe I can have many subfolders under the main folder, right?

If I am using different folders as different categories, it would help me, isnt it.

Different folders will be more difficult to manage for your application I think.
