    Thanks Susan for your quick response laugh

    I did it

    This time it returns :
    /var/www/free.fr/d/8/david.molliere/include:.
    /var/www/free.fr/d/8/david.molliere/manager/index.php

    That looks correct. Hm. According to those error messages, the include_path is not getting set by the script I quoted below. As far as I know, the CGI version isn’t any different from the Apache module version in that regard. I’m not sure at this point why it’s not working. According to the phpinfo() results, the include_path being shown in those error messages is the original.

    If you don’t mind, try this:
    Before the code mentioned below, put this:

    echo get_include_path() . "
    ";

    and after, put this:

    echo get_include_path(); exit();

    this way we can see if it is changing the include path or not.

      I can confirm that MODx runs fine when running under the CGI / phpSuExec version (in fact I kind of prefer it now, since I never have to maintain file/folder permissions in association with it).

      And it would also seem this free host might be using some kind of clustered server environment which may be affecting the include path. I assume in this clustered server environment, the include path is variable based on the server making the response, but if so, what is the proper way to get the path in this environment? I just put a site up on ValueWeb which does use a clustered environment, and had to add the following code in between the session_name() and session_start() calls in the StartCMSSession() function located in the manager/includes/config.inc.php file:

      session_save_path('manager/sessions');

      ...as well as create the manager/sessions/ directory.

      Not sure if this is really the problem in the case of this host, ’cause I don’t see any session warnings being issued, but it’s possible this is related to the issue and I wanted to mention it.

        Thanks Jason for taking the time smiley

        I’ve inserted your code but I still get the error, you can check it there : http://david.molliere.free.fr/manager/

        The problem with this free hosting service is they don’t respond to email, nor do they collaborate...

        Don’t waste too much ressource on this, my point of view being there are plenty of cheap hosting and if you want to use cool apps, you have to acknowledge the need for paid hosting...

          I wish I had access to the files, I would really like to get to the bottom of it. Of course, I really don’t know what the trouble is, so I would be putting "echo" statements after just about every line to see what it’s doing. Sooner or later I’d pin down the exact problem.

          I wonder exactly what it’s producing as that $incPath variable? That’s what it should be changing to the include_path to, but if for some reason it’s not creating a valid path, the set_include_path() function would fail.

          Could you echo that $incPath immediataely after it’s assigned?

              For some reason or another it’s not changing the include_path. That’s only a convenience in the /manager/index.php file, however, a quick find/replace fixed it. It should work OK now.

              It it works, I’ll attach the modified index.php file.

                I’ve always been very leery of anything that required changing the php.ini values, just for this reason.

                  You’ll need to keep an eye on that custom session folder; it won’t get emptied regularly and will fill up pretty quickly. When I did this for a client, I created a simple link for them to empty all files in that folder more than 1 day old. Every now and then they just need to click on the link to clear out the old session files.

                      Ok, there are probably other files using "include" statements that will need to be fixed, but that’s all that seems to be wrong. You don’t need to set the session file location. I’ll pick through the files looking for includes, and will zip up the whole manager folder when we’re satisfied, and you can pass it on to your Free users.
