Can you post that here for everyone’s benefit. Looks like we’ll have another post-Christmas bump release... :/

Regarding XAMPP, have it installed and can access their localhost page when running. Does modx dir have to be moved to a subdir of XAMPP to be installed locally?
The php files don’t load in the browser, just the contents of them.
Is there any other step by step documentation on installing locally with xampp besides the - How to move a site to a new server page?
Hi
On xampp use /htdocs folder.
For exemple copy the files in /htdocs/modx and use the url http://localhost/modx/
Aour
Thanks. Did that. Get the following error.
Fatal error: Call to undefined function startCMSSession() in C:\apachefriends\xampp\htdocs\modx\index.php on line 85
If there were some clearer instructions for testing in Windows with xampp, that would be great..

Your config file must be missing or is not being upgraded properly during the install. The startCMSSession() function should be defined in your config.inc.php file at /manager/includes/ once the install completes.
Ok thanks. Have been on other projects. Tryed xampp with modx on another system.
Filled in database login name, with no password; admin, with a password. Got all all ok to install. Then when installing get the error that modx database couldn’t be created. Should be some clearer documentation for working with modx locally. What am I missing? Do I have to create a database and all first in phpmyadmin? Can someone show me the steps?
Ok. Created the database in phpmyadmin. Then stopped and restarted xampp and went to reinstall modx again. Get same error, modx can’t create database. Read over the page you noted, which didn’t go into any detail for installing locally. Maybe it is because I’m not overly familiar with phpmyadmin. Do I have to add tables to the modx database and create a database login name and password, and an admin username and password in phpmyadmin first? If so, some screenshots would be helpful (like a pdf or chm documentation file for modx that included steps). This is a fresh install of xampp, so no settings have been added. Wish that modx was more seamless with installing without manual adds to phpmyadmin..

You do not have to create the database manually anymore. Can you tell me what the details are you are using during the installation to access your local database? It should create the DB automatically during install if it doesn’t exist, but you have to have a DB user with proper permissions for creating DB’s.
