Ditto won't display [+summary+] after upgrading to 0.9.6

Hi,

Today i upgraded to 0.9.6 from 0.9.5 and i am having a few problems. One of them is with Ditto, i use [+summary+] to display the first paragraph of my content which then has <!--splitter--> to tell Ditto when to stop displaying content. This was working until i upgraded to 0.9.6. I also tried entering text into the "Summary (introtext)" field but it does not display that either. This is for all pages, and Ditto does display [+title+], [+url+] and other placeholders correctly.

I am also having JS issues with TinyMCE, but thats a different story.

You have to add &extenders=summary to your Ditto call.

Thanks. I did have a look through there but couldn’t find it! I have added &extenders=summary to my Ditto call and am using [+summary+] but when trying to view the page i get this:

summary extender does not exist. Please check it.

The only thing which comes to mind then is your assets/snippets/ditto folder was not updated properly. Check that summary.extender.inc.php is in assets/snippets/ditto/extenders folder. If it is, might be corrupted : re-upload it !

Please show us your complete Ditto call.

I had a similar problem with Wayfinder in upgrading to 0.9.6.

Mine was caused by an older wayfinder.inc.php file that didn’t get overwritten during the upgrade.

Look at the content of the snippet.ditto.php file in assets\snippets\ditto to make sure that it says version 2.0.2 at the beginning of the file.

I am having the same problem. I checked the Extender version, re-uploaded it to be sure it was not corrupt. Below is my complete Ditto Call. I followed the Tutorial in the Wiki which needs updating. As helpful as the Wiki and this forum are they are often out of sync.

The link you reference has the title "Legacy support for the [+summary+] placeholder" which has me scratching my head. If there is a better way to include the summary then I would be happy to learn the new way. Mine is a new site (developed the week .96 was released so I did upgrade).

The only real helpful information on how to use Ditto2 was in the Wiki. The current docs lack the very basics on how to just simply put a blog on the page and some example basic uses.

Try making your &extenders=`summarize` ... I think it uses the introtext field for that.

Maybe I am wrong, but I think default Ditto template now use introtext because summary was an excerpt of content which was truncated with a specified number of characters. The reason it’s not default anymore is resource intensiveness of truncating if I remember correctly.

Might be that there is a typo in the official doc : &extenders=summary is in the doc, maybe it’s rather your version which works, i.e &extenders=`summarize` (if so, I’ll send Mark a PM to have the doc edited)
