Oh, you mean customizing each separately? Makes sense. Can you log that as a feature request? Thanks.

      Hi Mark,

I’m still trying to work out how to use &filter properly. Still can’t seem to get it to work, or don’t understand how to use it.

What values can you put in documentobjector/tvwithtvprefix and the criteria?

If I have a TV called Category, do I type ’tvCategory’?

And if the TV has the word ’blue’ in it, and I would like to have all documents with the word ’blue’ in their Category TV listed, what can I type?

Currently I’ve tried: &filter=`tvCategory,==blue,1` and had no success. I think I misunderstand the way this variable works.

      Thanks

        Mark,

        It should be
        &filter=`tvCategory,blue,1`

If you wanted to use comparison operators (>,>=,<,<=,==,!=) then you would replace the mode operator (1-6, in this case 1) with that.

I’m getting a message that there is ’No entries found’.

Yet I know I have a TV called ’Category’ with the word ’Humour’ inside it.

I’m using the following call on my page:
          [!NewsListing? &startID=`41,42` &summarize=`4` &lastRow=`HomeSmall` &altRows=`HomeSmall` &firstRow=`HomeSmall` &dateformat=`%d %B %y` &truncText=`More` &paginate=`1` &increment=`4` &filter=`tvCategory,Humour,1` !]
          [+previous+] [+pages+] [+next+]

I want to be able to return all pages with the word ’Humour’ in their Category TV. Essentially, I’m trying to make a list of articles categorised as ’Humour’.

Is there some setting I need to check or something - what am I doing wrong?

          Thanks in advance.

On Gmail they have a feature called labels. They basicly work like folders except that a single email can have multiple labels causing it to appear in multiple folders even though only one copy exists. A feature like this could be really nice in MODx with an idea like labels or virtual folders. I don’t know if that is something for a snippet or if it would have to be designed into the base architecture.

But it would be nice to be able to use dropmenu to create a set of buttons to filter an archive of posts. I guess it would have to work where a new publisher would choose from a predesigned drop down list of categories. Or the drop menu might build a list of authors based on whoever has actually publsished a blog entry. Or dates. I guess these virtual folders could sort on just about any data field.

Is that the kind of things you guys are trying to accomplish with the &filter tag?

I’m also wondering how do you go about simply having an archive listing i.e. a list sorted by month.

              I tried:

              [!NewsListing? &startID=`41,42` &summarize=`0` &dateformat=`%d %B %y` !]

But instead get a summary of everything.

              When I type:

              [!NewsListing? &startID=`41,42` &summarize=`1` &dateformat=`%d %B %y` !]

I get one summarized listing followed by an archive list (this is the bit that I want).

How do I get a simple Archive list using Newslisting? And can you template the archive list? Or do you need to modify the Snippet?

Also, is there a way of filtering by year, so you have a listing of 2006, 2005, etc.

              Cheers

For the Archive only view use this temporarily: http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php/topic,4181.msg31144.html#msg31144

There will be a simple way to handle the Archive only view as well as Archive templating in NewsListing’s successor. If you can wait a day or two you will be a happy man...

                  Thanks for the pointer!

Do you have ideas with my previously mentioned &filter issue? I’ve been going through a bit of trial and error, but haven’t stumbled onto the correct use of &filter. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Looking forward to the next update of Newslisting. It is really quite a great snippet, and it can only get better.

                  Thanks

When using NewsListing 6.4.2 to generate my RSS feed, I notice that the description field isn’t correct. (see code)

                    <rss version="2.0">
                    − <channel>
                           <title>ABCDomotique.info - Flux RSS</title>
                            <link>http://www.abcdomotique.info/rss.xml.html</link>
                           <description/>
                           <language>fr</language>
                           <copyright>ABCDomotique.info 2006</copyright>
                           <ttl>120</ttl>
                           etc...

Any suggestion to correct it ?
