Sorting by menu index not working

Wow, gotta thank you all for posting in this thread, I was wondering what the heck was going on with the new test server I’m working on. Indeed it’s 5.0.51a causing some problems. Ok, I’ll have a look into updating the Ubuntu MySQL install.

Hi all,

I’ve got the same problem occurring and I’m not sure what the problem is. My menus in Wayfinder are not sorting correctly.

I’ve tried adding the operators to my Wayfinder call, such as &sortBy=`menuindex` and so on...but it keeps sorting by page ID.

I saw that there was a bug in some version of MySQL that could cause this problem, but I’m not on that version. Here are the specs on my server.

LAMP server
MySQL version = 5.0.45
PhP version = 4.4.7

Any thoughts or suggestions would be really appreciated. I’m sort of at my wits end here with this.

I’ll bet that is the MySQL client API version and that the server is indeed running 5.0.51.

It’s possible. I’ll have to dig a bit deeper and check.

Strange things is, we’ve got several other clients running sites with the same hosting company, and their installs are all working correctly.

Do you think it would be worth trying a reinstall of ModX?

I would first check the home screen of phpMyAdmin. It should show the server MySQL version at the top left, and the client MySQL version at the top right.

If you’re running on 5.0.51, it would cause exactly what you’re seeing.

I’m still having problems, probably related to the dodgy 5.0.51a-community. That was installed on our server and was (or so I thought) stopping sorting from working, so I asked the host to upgrade. They’ve now upgraded to MySQL 5.0.67a-community, but I still get the same problem. Every other post I’ve found says that the problem resolves itself after upgrading MySQL, so I’m not sure quite why mine is still being difficult. Curiously I’ve got some sites suffering but not others (those installed on another server and copied across have never stopped working, even when the server was using 5.0.51a). This is all kinda urgent now, as my client is keen for it to be working so the site can go live. Any ideas?

MODx: 0.9.6.3
MySQL: 5.0.67a-community
PHP: 5.2.6

Be sure to clear the site cache and browser cache/cookies before checking for improvement.

LOL. I almost didn’t post because I was afraid I’d insult you with the suggestion. Believe me, I had to get bit a number of times before I learned to make it automatic.

I’m getting a MySQL error, and my server is running 5.0.67-community.

If I remove the orderBy parameter it works okay, and I end up with the result I want (results in order of creation, ascending). But I’d like to know why this is happening and if there’s anything I can do to stop it as I may need to customise the order in the future.



To me, it looks like the query really is at fault (why are two other fields in ORDER BY at the end?) - could this be a bug in Ditto? I have MODx 0.9.6.3 and Ditto 2.1+.
