I believe there is a relatively recent commit to SVN that resolved those issues identity.

In documents’ edit page there is the menu order, just over the content textarea.
There is even a nice module to sort the menus in Ajax way.
Search the Repository.

Catch22... I read through the whole thread prior to doing anything with Wf, so that I’d have an idea what I was doing, but of course w/o doing anything with it, issues like this go over your head or don’t register when they pop up
and of course you never know which issues are no longer issues!
I have MySQL 4.1.18, so I think I must have disregarded it also thinking that it may not be an issue on my version... ooops.
I’m looking forward to really putting it to work. With all the templating, granted added power and control, but it also seems considerably more complex than DropMenu, but I’m sure it just takes working with it a little.

That’s what I’m hoping. I’m used to controlling everything w/ CSS anyway. Actually, the simple menu for this site, didn’t need much of anything, so I have no doubt.... just when you see all the paramaters and lists of placeholders, you see the learning curve going up and things being a bit intimidating, even though it might be infinitely simpler in the end.
Anyway, all in all, enjoying the ride so far

I appreciate the challenge you guys are facing... trying to expand the current version while also evolving the next version... versions, while at the same time, helping to educate and promote MODx to the world. It is no small task.
From what I’ve seen over my intense exposure to MODx over the last week in learning, experimenting, and lots of reading, more and more in-depth and clearer docs will help go a long way towards all of the challenges. There is definitely excitement, and yes, there are certainly a lot of questions that really fall back on basic or advanced CSS coding or other things outside of MODx, but many are trying to understand and implement the snippets and understand how everything functions. Of course, the challenge is to forget all that you know when writing the docs to make sure that they are understandable to those without MODx running through their veins... yet.
I think developing coding standards will help... how many times you have to look back to see how a particular paramater is called in one snippet versus another.
Including a full example call with all paramaters, even if the call would be technically incorrect or things contradict or cancel each other out... just so everyone can see how each paramater would be written... if a doc mentions that something is true or false by default, but you never see it written out, you then have to ponder whether that means `0` and `1` or `false` and `true` or `FALSE` and `TRUE`... little details that become hugely confusing when you are learning.
Making sure that the unusual paramaters are exampled... on more than one occasion, I’ve seen examples that show the particularly obvious written out, but that doesn’t help much on the more confusing paramaters.
These are by no means directed at Wayfinder, but in general across many snippets that I’ve tried to figure out over the last few days. And this is as much me thinking through as a marketer as much as a designer, since after all, the ease of adoption and implementation, both now and in the future, for both new users as well as existing users and the team, impact the marketing and growth of MODx as much as anything else.

I have to confess, my experience in the world of wiki has been fairly limited... the typical looking for information in general online. But there has certainly been a strong call from many people for it.
So I’ll have to withhold any judgements until I give it a try and see how it unfolds. The only concern I guess I would see is getting too spreadout.
Especially as a newbie, trying to find information is already a bit scattered.... is it in the docs, is it in the forum, if it’s a snippet, is it in the "Repository" section or is it in the other "Usage and support" or whatever the other bottom section is in the Support area, does it have a special section (like Wayfinder) and even if it does, might there be other posts scattered about.
But maybe the wiki will help bring all this together. I’m guessing that it will be more of a living document, more like Drupal’s book documentation for the manuals that allows others to post additions, corrections, etc.
Either way, again something I don’t envy... documentation is critically important to any undertaking and is also one of the greatest challenges, especially when you are aiming at a moving target.
