I have played around with using an image as a separator. As you have found out it doesn’t work. I think the trouble is with the equal signs. I tried using ’<img src="image.gif" />’ which didn’t work. When I looked at the source the string was cut off after ’<img sr’. If I removed the equal sign it worked. Though of course without getting any image since the src wasn’t defined correctly, but I got a broken image and all crumbs where displayed. I have tried various ways to get around this but to no avail. Doing the same operation in a standalone script worked perfectly so I think the problem resides in MODx. Is it possible that MODx doesn’t allow equal signs in snippet parameters?

Correct, snippet parameter values may not contain quotes. I believe this bug will be solved with the new 0.9.7 core.

great snippet, however I noticed my breadcrumbs links are not clickable with Opera 9.23 (Build 8808) on windows xp.
searching the forums turn nothing about it and wanted to ask if there
        Is a fix for this?

Wayfinder can do Breadcrumbs too.. there is a ready made config for it, try using [!Wayfinder? &config=`breadcrumb`!] or see this.

There shouldn’t be anything fancy or un-HTML-like about the output of this snippet. Have you looked at the output to see what kind of issue there might be? I somewhat suspect a stylesheet problem (like a DIV being higher in the z-index and blocking hover sensitivity or something). A link to the problem page would be good so we can see the problem first hand.

Nice tip on the Wayfinder usage. When Breadcrumbs was written there was nothing of the sort. Actually MODx didn’t even exist yet! I suspect Breadcrumbs days may be numbered!

Thx doze for the link, thought I’ll give it a try but maybe you can elaborate the wiki post so I’ll know what I’m doing? smiley

                Oppps my bad.
just noticed I have v 1.0 and &config is new for 2.0 I think. I’ll update and try again.

I have a structure like this:

Locations (Folder) - at root of the doc tree
                  ---EN
                  -- Locations (Page)
                  -- Alberta (Page)
                  -- British Columbia (Page)
                  ---FR
                  -- Adresses (Page)
                  -- Alberta (Page)
                  -- British Columbia (Page)

I’ve been trying out this Breadcrumb Snippet and it’s parameters but have into a couple of problems.

                  For example I get this:

                  Home >> Alberta for example.

I want to have Locations > Alberta instead (no Home.)

I know how to turn off display of the Home link and have done so, however because Locations is on the same level as Alberta and the rest of the provinces, that isn’t show (it is on the same level to work properly in the Wayfinder (i.e. the submenus always begin with the name of the current main menu item and are listed beneath on the same level.)

Is there anyway to force this Snippet to show Locations?

Second, here is my snippet call to change the divider character:

                  [!Breadcrumbs? &crumbSeparator = `&#8250;`!]

I can’t seem to change the character. Has anyone had success?

Wayfinder can handle breadcrumbs nicely. there is a how to in th wiki and there may be a preset as well.

Yeah, thanks, I’ve read that Wiki page but at present it makes little sense to me. I’ll try my best by experimenting. After thinking of it, this particular snippet probably isn’t suited so the Wayfinder is the way to go. What I’m trying to do isn’t strictly a breadcrumb in the sense of charting the path people have followed, is is rather an indicator of a hierarchy that doesn’t exist in the document tree as well.
