well what was happening was that for some reason, when I clicked on preview, the link to the css in the page’s header was dropped, this was mission critical, and since the commenting feature is really geared towards building a community I went with disqus.
I am not even sure how to explain it, other than when I clicked preview, there was no link to the css in the page source. Also, found out that when I go to the page which contained the quip call, and simply clicked refresh on my browser, it would do it. This behavior was the same in all browser, so if I lost my css in one browser and went to chrome or opera, navigated to the site page effected, they too would show no css...I was thinking a friendly url problem, but couldn’t track it down.
I thought perhaps another snippet was causing this, and whittled the template down to chunks and content with quip. Used template variables, chunks containing html and the quip call, I even reduced the original complex quip call down to the most basic quip and quip reply call as pointed out in RTFM. It all came down to quip causing the problem. The client is on dreamhost, maybe not the best host, but by far not the worst and their server configurations surpass the basic requirements for revo...maybe something happened after I patched the site with the last release, because I did patch it a day after moving it off of my local server...dunno wish I could dig through the code like some of you guys can...still trying to make php write "hello world"
