Support/Comments for Easy 2 Gallery 1.4.0-RC1

I’ll be delighted if you can confirm that the upgrade DOES work for you.

For some reasons, many of E2G users are also the new MODx users.
I don’t know which one was the FIRST reason of using these systems.
Perhaps I need to write the instruction with better details.

How about you? How did you find E2G / MODx?

I ended up with MODx after doing some search. My conclusion is that what puts MODx apart from very many other systems is that it´s based on everyday php/html/css/js, then you can do whatever your heart and/or capabilities are. Although the php-bandwagon is something I just recently started to look into...

The importance of this expansion-"tree" really struck me after having jumped on the wrong horse about a year ago, and thereafter getting very warm recommendations for MODx.

A well-functioning image-gallery is requested by several of my clients. Without it, I´m "no-go" on MODx!

I´ll make sure to follow the "new" upgrade-instructions with the next release of E2G!

I wonder if anyone could help with a specific scenario...
I currently have a chunk that links to a TV ( [*learner-gallery-images*] ) which in turn is set to link to page #167 with a default value of ’@document167’. So basically i can have a list of thumbnail images on page #167 and this outputs in the chunk. This chunk can then be chosen (from TV checkbox list) as an item to be displayed within a sidebar...it all works well.
However i would like to have Easy2 manage the thumbnail images in order to keep all image management simple and from one central location but i’m having difficulty in getting my head around how to do this.

The chunk is:

<h2 class="white-learners">GALLERIES</h2>
<ul class="thumbnails">
[*learner-gallery-images*]
</ul>
</div>

Anyone any ideas how i can have Easy2 generate the thumbnails?

The problem here is that @DOCUMENT only pulls the raw content of the specified resource without processing it in any way. So you can’t use a snippet on the resource to generate a list of images. You’ll need to re-think your TV subsystem. Instead of the TV pulling in a resource, just have the snippet for E2G in the chunk. E2G galleries are not tied to any resource, and your images are managed through the E2G module interface. You don’t need the extra resource to manage the images.

I have tried the call in the chunk itself and yes it works but i think what i’m getting confused with is formatting the output. All i need to do is to pull in the images without the <div class="thumb"> etc genrated by Easy2, but i’m not sure how to remove all the formatting from the snippet call.
Am i on the right tracks or over complicating things?

You’re on the right track; I believe that the e2g snippet can be configured to use custom output tpls like Wayfinder or Ditto does. The default tpls are in the assets/modules/easy2/templates/default folder.

Aah right, great.
I had to create two new templates to replace the default thumbnail.htm and the gallery.htm so it’s just the Easy2 call in the chunk now.
There is still a surplus <div class="e2g"> surrounding the thumbnail images but i’m not too sure where this is coming from and it’s actually not affecting the layout so all’s well.
