Hi,

I have had Easy2 installed for a while now and as far as uploading images goes it works fine.
There are however a couple of issues that i’m unable to resolve.
NB: This is set up at a temporary URL...not sure this will make any difference to performance of Easy2. I have Easy2 working on MAMP without the 403 issue.
- Firstly i get a 403 Forbidden page every time i click on the ’save’ button under the config tab. The following two files in includes/configs are writable 777:
default.config.easy2gallery.php
config.easy2gallery.php

If I can’t get the above working i wonder if there’s a way to hide the tabs ’Config’, ’Comments Manager’ and ’Help’, as there is no need for the client to ever change anything here anyway?

- My other unresolved issue is when uploading a zip file to a selected folder, the images don’t actually unzip to the selected folder and instead unzip to the root Easy2/ directory. At the end of the day it’s just a case of selecting all images and moving to the correct location but it would be nice to have this working.

- Last one...i have deleted a couple of test folders in Easy2/ but they are still appearing in the files view albeit with grey text! Do i need to delete them from the actual database?

I have change E2G 1.4.0 RC2 to save configuration inside the database, instead of writing the file.

If you delete them inside module, and this particular problem occurs, then it’s definitely a permission problem.

Cross your fingers, I’ll publish RC 2 on Sunday, and then you may check it whether it’ll solve your problems.

Sounds worth a try. I will hold on until R2 is released.
Is there a way to hide the tabs though? I thought i might be able to comment them out in one of the files but i can’t find the relevant code in any of the files.

How do you ACTUALLY update E2G?

I really like E2G but upgrading killed my site. Really, it did!

I uploaded the latest .zip E2G-version (272) to the root of MODx, from inside the Manager. The upl seemed at first to go fine, but I noticed I didn´t get any install prompts in the Modules/E2G tab.

I couldn´t see any sign of the updated E2G-files at all, I started to wonder if the .zip-file actually unzipped and where the files actually went. To test I deleted the entire libs-folder and modules-folder with E2G that came with the original E2G-installment, and tried to upload the .zip-file again. There were no signs of neither the libs-folder nor E2G in the modules-folder. Next I manually uploaded the updated libs-folder and E2G-folder in the appropriate places. Installment-prompt appeared, no problems reported by the system so far and the sun was shining again, so I thought...

Problem now is no pages are rendered! When trying to preview all I get is "Include_Ordering_error Please use the MODx Content Manager instead of accessing this file directly".

The site worked perfect before I started this attempt at upgrading E2G...

Update of MODx was attempted with no change in end-result. The site is now taken down and the MySQL-db is wiped completely clean, ready for a fresh install of everything! But it´s a bit cumbersome to do this whenever I want to update E2G :’(

Luckily I have both a a reasonable backup of main neccessary files and this was an experimental site, and no lives were lost

The only thing that I know of that was not according to update instructions was that I uploaded the zip-file BEFORE changing the E2G-code "include_once MODx..."

Obviuosly, a number of xprts out there are happy upgraders, so ACTUALLY, how do you do it?

My upgrade attempt was from E2G 268 (I think) to 272, and I´m on Evo 1.4.0.

I think fancybox is the best popup choise, posibility to download the image, next prev on a good way, looks fancy, and the resize is very nice, always image full screen and not too big so u have to scroll.

Only noticed when logged in modx there is some js conflict and popup doesn’t work, is there a easy workaround for that?

I think because i see in the source:

1. rename the old easy2 folder as something else (eg: easy2-old)
2. unzip the file on your computer desktop, upload it via FTP (You should not upload the raw ZIP file from the MODx’s file manager. There is a bug on its function.)
3. copy easy2/includes/configs/config.easy2gallery.php from the old folder to the new one
4. then access the easy 2 from module.
5. if your server meets the E2G’s minimum requirement, then the ’install’ button will be enabled.

Try it again. I just tested the update on my test site. Everything is smooth.

It’s definitely a conflict with the Quick Manager. You can set the QM+ to not load the jQuery on the front-end from it’s configuration set up.

THX goldsky, that seems be along the lines my gutfeeling was indicating to me.

But perhaps the upgrade instructions could be a tad clearer on this point, so that other noobs (like myself ) doesn´t fall into that trap again and starts to hunt you guys with these silly "small" things on the forums?
