Well, I’m going to test it now.. Apparently in IE8 I still can’t see the transitions/preloader between images (IE must die!), but this can be another issue to the Javascript-Guru who is going to give a hand here.

I found the problem, although I can not fix it right away.
It came from the jQuery history plugin, which occured so much problems at its implementation, especially on cross-browser compatibility.

So if you don’t need that jQuery history plugin, just set in the gallerific-5.js at line 34:

enableHistory:             true,

to be

enableHistory:             false,

It is the current trick to avoid conflict with QuickManager.

Depends on server’s settings (php’s limitation, RAM/clock speed for file processing).

Hi,
I have serious problem with utf8 support of the gallery (or I don’t understand something?)
Until today I had version, called 1.4.0 beta3 from 2nd of April. This version had some minor issues but it was perfectly working with utf8 filesystem (linux for example)
Today I updated it with the version you provide as zip (mainly because of the additional gallerific support which had the files compatible with this version)

In this version you always process file names with utf8_decode function. This completely kills the functionality under-utf8 aware file system (specially when using non latin names)

Please correct me if I’m wrong, but how this fits to the "...ONLY support UTF-8 filenames/folders..." in the descripton?

Or I’m missing something?

If I’m correct with my suggestion that you are using this to be compatible with some non utf8 file system, may be this processing should be parametrized and the default should be not do do it.

My server locale settings are:

Have in mind that function like "basename()" would not return anything from utf8 paths if LC_ALL is not set to correct UTF-8 settings.

Do you want a package, working under linux?
If yes, take it from http://www.nitbg.com/easy2.tar.gz
This is only the module folder.
Ignore files which have some extensions after .php - these are different experiments
Actually the changes are mainly to remove utf8_decode and utf8_encode functions.

If I can give you a hint, probably the best would be to check the OS and the Locale and to encode/decode accordingly?
And I would think more about using iconv functions instead of utf8_decode/encode.

One interesting thing you can check are the modifications in style.css.
I think this is better to have thumbnails with layout and "free" size (not compatible with IE6 and lower)

I intend to add an AJAX-based rating system to this; do you have any suggestions or ideas on how this could best be done, or warnings of anything I should be careful with?
