Support/Comments for DocPassword

This is just not working out. Followed all instructions to a T. Using evo 1.03, though I had to use Cached snippets [[DocPassword]] or else it won’t parse.

What are your Cached settings for: 1.) the Resource you are trying to protect and 2.) the "Password Required" page?

I know it can seem confusing, but once you have it set up correctly it is pretty simple to use. What issue are you specifically facing? Have you been able to correctly secure a page (and subsequently "authorize" via the DocPassword)?

In the middle of typing up my reply to you, I tried something out and it worked.

I had to use the snippet uncached because my [*content*] placeholder is output from one of two chunks, chosen from a conditional statement in an uncached snippet ([!mainContent!]) in my template.

So I edited my template and changed the mainContent to cached, and the DocPassword works now!

Also both the Unauth page and the protected page have cacheable turned off.

Thanks. Though I think all snippets should work regardless of whether they are cached or not.

If you are seeing your "Unauthorized Page" in your menu, you can likely toggle the Show in Menu setting for that page, provided you are using Wayfinder/Ditto to create your menu links.

I dont have a clue how to use this snippet.... can some one help me.

1. I have made a snippet with the full downloadet text

2. I have created a new TV with the name DocPasswordTV, and assigned it to the template Im using for the password-protected pages

3. I have given my pages a password

4. I have created a "unauthorized page" and put [!DocPassword? &redirect=`[*id*]`!] in the content-area..

5. You MUST PASS &redirect=`[*id*]` in the "unauthorized page" snippet call! - this one I dont understand

6. I have noted the unauthorized page’s ID in Tools > Configuration > Unauthorized Page

Is some information missing in the instructions - the 1,2,3,5 bullets indicates this..

hope someone can point me in the right direction...

I was just wandering if this brilliant snippet will be ported over to Revolution or if anyone knows of an alternative.

I have been doing some google searching for similar snippets but have not found anything.

Yep, I plan to port this to Revo as soon as I have some free time! Stay tuned

UPDATE: Fixed broken link to this extra from legacy auto-generate post.

Still planning to make a Revo release for this one (should be pretty simple!)
