Yep, I know - I was asking if there was a way of truncating the length of the displayed feed items so I could avoid it displaying? There is no actual ad displayed, just a gap.

Um, I guess I wasn’t clear. I’m using NewsParserX to render the RSS feed on my web site. The previous blogger-generated feed showed up fine.

I’ve validated the feed. It comes up valid:

Is there any way within MODx to see where it’s choking or what it’s doing within NewsParserX?

You can try to debug it; that’s the only way. But if it’s valid, try pieX or another RSS parser...
