Support/Comments for FileDownload

Hi All

I was hoping someone of superior intellect could tell me if it is possible to get the fileDownload snippet to display [+fd.filename+] without the file extension.

Or even better still, if it is possible to hide or omit the extension in the [+fd.filename+] only for file types I specify?

Obviously, the [+fd.link+] would still need to include the extension!

Oh, I am thinking, is there a way to delete file? I am using this FileDownload along with FileUpload in the same page, and I am uncertain the Delete option should belong to which snippet’s realm

Hey, I’ve installed filedownload 2.6 and the count plug-in yet the count is not working for me nor are the images for file types.. I’ve got the system event set to OnWebPagePrerender and it remains at (0).

Could someone tell me how to get the count working?

I’m using MODx ver 0.9.6.2

My call is [!FileDownload? &imgLocat=`assets/images/filetype` &imgTypes=`fileImages` &countDownloads=`1` &includeFileSize=`1` &skipTableCheck=`1` &browseDirectories=`1`!]

I don’t think you can see the file count in the frontend.

There is a ’fileCount.txt’ file in the ’filedownload’ folder.

Hmmm... why would it show downloads (0) to the public if the (0) never changes? That would be a bit pointless wouldn’t it not? I think it is meant to change as the image at the resource area shows the downloads number changing so I assume this is how it’s meant to function.

It’s not imperative that the downloads count but it looks nice. If anyone could help with this, that would be cool. I tried filedownloadPE by Scotty but the zips are always 0kb in size and are corrupt.

I am having a similar problem, I have installed the snippet and everything works fine apart from the download count. Snippet call as follows:

[!FileDownload? &getFolder=`assets/downloads` &countDownloads=`1` &imgLocat=`assets/images` &imgTypes=`FileDownload-image-chunk` &tplList=`FileDownload-tpl` &dateFormat=`d/m/y`!]

I have tried it with the plugin but still no joy, I am unsure if the file path I enter into the TV is correct or not. Should it be the whole path or is "assets/downloads" enough. Do I even need to use the plugin, from the documentation I get the impression you should not need to use it and that it should work without.

I also became confused on the installation of the plugin, I copy and past from FileDownloadPlugin1.2.php and paste it into a new plugin applying the following plugin configuration:

&countDownloads=Count Downloads;list;yes,no;yes &useDbCount=Store Count Where;list;db,file;db

If someone could have a look and see what I may be doing wrong. Would be nice to use the count facility if possible.

We had used the filedownload plugin/snippet for the book and video downloads on our www.spiritualoutreach.com web site. The counter worked perfectly fine and is one of the reasons we were disappointed to not be able to use the plugin because of blocking problems on very large downloads - something we were never able to fully resolve.

It has been quite a while since we used it and I do not have our configuration on file but I do recall a problem where the template variable for the directory did not properly handle inheritance and had to be manually set on every page. I don’t think that affected the counter; I think that prevent the proper finding of files but you could try it. Sorry I can’t be of more help - John
