    Hi guys.

    I discovered the ’frontpage’ plugin when searching for a revo equivalent of quickmanager or some way to do in-context editing.

    I’ve installed frontpage on my modx testbed install, currently running revo 2.4.

    According to the docs included with the package, a user with permission to edit a page should see something on that page.
    As default user ’admin’, after I installed frontpage I logged out and logged back in. I could not see anything new on the pages that I can edit.

    What am I missing?

      Well, you might have figured this one out already.

      make sure that:

      - you have jQuery loading in template or via Frontpage plugin property setting "loadJQuery"
      - you are logged in the "front end"

      work quiet well for me.

        Hi, I also setup my revo 2.08 site and installed frontpage pack. When I login as webuser I can see edit and create buttons as considered at the top of the page. Background is becoming dark but no tinymce-editor shows up.
        Could this be because of a wrong pathconfiguration or a FURL-config? My modx install works fine in a subdirectory "208/"
        Where could I try to change the path to the editor - frontpageEdit Chunk undecided

        Oh forgot to mention: TinyMCE works well in the manager ...

        Please help me out

          Solved,
          I had a wrong version of jquery lib imported to my template. works with jquery-1.4.2.min.js
          Does not with jquery-1.4.3.min.js

            I still can’t seem to get it to work.

            In the manager I can see the container, templates and chunks that frontpage should create.

            I’m loading minified jquery 1.4.2, and I’m logged in as the admin user.

            What am I missing out?

                MODx Revolution 2.0.8-pl (traditional)

                I’ve come to the conclusion that the docs for frontpage carry some assumptions about the readers knowledge.
                There are some things that I don’t know that stop me from being able to follow the installation instructions and get frontpage working.

                On installation you will see no changes to your site until a web user logs in through the front end.
                What is "the front end"? And what is a "web user"? I thought the concept of web user was meaningless in revo.
                I understand the manager as being a kind of "back end". I don’t know what it means to "log in to a front end".

                I know that these might seem to be dump questions, but I’m pretty confused.

                  the manager is the back-end - you are correct. the front-end is the public part of your website. In Revo you can use "login" extra for example to show a form that would let you log into the website from the "front" (wihtout accessing the manager interface at all) e.g. you could let users log in to update their profiles, download some stuff etc.

                  The Frontpage component requires that you are logged into the "front" end of the website, not the manager.

                  try:

                  -install Login extra
                  -place login snippet into your template
                  -login to your site from the front-end
                  -make sure you have jQuery loading enabled in the Fronpage properties or its already loaded via template
                  -see if frontpage editor shows up at the top.

                  hope it clears it up a little.

                    Thanks. This makes things a little clearer. I was wondering if frontpage had prerequisites, but the docs for it didn’t say that they did.

                    I’ve installed login, and now I’m trying to get it working. The documentation for it is pretty technical and in depth, but I can’t seem to get it working.
                    The docs tell me the same thing you do: install it and then just drop in a tag to get it working. But I’m not seeing anything.

                    Is there more to it then just dropping the snippet into a page’s template?
                    I have the following for a template, and I’m not seeing any way to log in to the front end:

                    <html>
                    <head>
                    <title>[[++site_name]] - [[*pagetitle]]</title>
                    <base href="[[++site_url]]" />
                    <script type="text/javascript"
                    src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.4.2/jquery.min.js"></script>
                    <script type="text/javascript" src=""></script>
                    </head>
                    <body>

                    [[!Login]]

                    [[*content]]

                    </body>
                    </html>

                      it should be [[!Login?]]

                      a Tip: when adding snippets/plugins etc. to the template, use drag’n’drop from the tree right into the content. it will show you all the settings available too that way. hope it helps.

                      sorry no time to type more right now...

                      later..
