Jeff, please don’t make the issue bigger than it was - somebody just abused the renaming function - if a hacker like to get in somewhere and are eager enough they most likely always find a way to do so regardless what piece of software we are talking about be it modx, etomite, joomla, mambo, etc. - how many security updates were there for modx already ?

If you like to contribute in a more constructive way to either imanager, ibrowser, or the file manager I’m working on, please do so - I invited you to help many times.

Oops! Pushed a button! But in all seriousness...you are absolutely right. No software is perfect and there will always be some way for a hacker to exploit a piece of software. So, yeah...no need to make a mountain out of an anthill. smiley

As far as contributing is concerned, I would love to. However, I’m torn in two directions right now. I’ve been busy as hell trying to finish up on reworking the manager so any work on redeveloping the resource browser has been put on hold. Plus, alot of ideas have developed on the resource browser...many that deal with very specific features and alot of hardcore integration with MODx...which has me a bit torn as to whether or not if the iManager, iBrowser, or your file manager is a good fit. When I get back to working on this, I’ll probably revisit it and see where to go from there.

Keep it up though. Alot of people like the iManager and iBrowser...especially the Etomite folks. Are they bundling it up now with Etomite? Just curious.

I’m in the middle of some R&D for a new Resource Browser that will replace our current one. We really need more features as well as a more robust API to hook into. Hopefully we’ll have something soon. smiley

i agree on that. i used the current filebrowser in many cms before. well ... for me it would be ok to continue using it. i am concerned about unexpierenced users/customers (they often put 2MB pictures online). uploading&resizing of pictures is not working well. pictures get just resized in their dimension, but not in "real" size, resolution, et cetera (like imagemagik does). i dont know if a filebrowser should do things like picture-scaling, color-correction ... i just want a intuitive fast filebrowser.

the topic shouldn´t be used talking about filebrowsers/media asset management - but where could it be done? any open threads?

      yours,

The replacement of the resource browser has been talked about quite a bit in some other threads. One of the things that is probably going to be a harsh fact is that the replacement may not have any image editing capabilities initially. Although it will suck not to have the ability to do a quick resize or cropping of an image, the reality is that any solution we implement needs to start on a solid foundation of the basics. Speed, ease of use, and user rights are all things I’m thinking about for a suitable replacement. smiley
