      Hi aour,

      cool! I just need one and wanted to start next week. I would have tried to use usal content with a few template variables... After that I would try to code a plugin which converts phrases in the content which exist in the glossary folder (as title) to a JS-tooltip with the (short) description and link to the entry with the (long) description.

      How would you guys do it? Suppose your snippet will build a kind of alphabetical overview or something like that? Could you go in details? wink

      Thx,
      Marc

        Hi,

        It will be great to have a glossary for ModX !
        My wish that will it display an alphabetic list with possibility to choose a letter in particular and display only for example ’I’ ...
        Also It would be great i we could make categorie inside the glossary (for exemple : legal glossary, computer glossary, design glossary)

        Definition display is great, i was try to do it manually with OverLib wich is great tooltips javascript wink

        thanks ... would like screenshot of what we wish to understand better ? I know my english is not very good sad

        Regards

          Well, I know it from Joomla. But here with that great system there is no need to code an own component, usual content would be enough. Overlib is great, yes. I would try to implement it. So, perhaps we should come together wink aour makes a snippet which displays the menu (alphabetical characters), I try to make the plugin (end of next week).

                Hi wendy,

                look at this:

                immobilienfinanzierung

                You see that some phrases in the text are highlighted, on mouseover you see a description of it. These descriptions come from the glossary component (see here). There you can browse the phrases by character.

                  Just an idea : wouldn’t it be great to have the Glossary working with an autoacronyms snippet ?

                    Hi David,

                    don´t really know what you mean with autoacronyms, but there would be no difference between phrases, words oder acronyms, it´s all depending on what you put in the glossary wink

                    edit: Okay, I see, I think you mean the abbr/acronym tag in HTML. Well, good point! But not every entry in the glossary would be an acronym/abbr, so the usage wouldn´t be correct from the accessibilty point of view. Perhaps you have to differ with an additional TV-checkbox for the glossary entries:

                    acronym: []yes []no
                    abbr: []yes []no

                    but remember: IE doesn´t understand abbr...

                      Hi

                      @wendy : youcan find the original joomla componant glossary.

                      @MadeMyDay : are you sure that use the Modx document structure is a good idea?
                      Dragon show me a glossary of 1145 words. I don’t know; but a document tree with more than 1200 item will be too heavy, no?

                      Suggestion :

                      Create a special table : glossary

                      		`id` int(9) unsigned NOT NULL auto_increment,
                                      `is_category` enum('0','1') NOT NULL default '0',
                      		`parent` int(9) unsigned NOT NULL default '1',
                      		`name` varchar(255) NOT NULL default '',
                      		`desc` text NOT NULL,
                                      `Published` enum('0','1') NOT NULL default '1',
                      		`date_edit` datetime NOT NULL default '0000-00-00 00:00:00',
                      		`date_create` datetime NOT NULL default '0000-00-00 00:00:00',

                      during installation create one category "Global" with id "1" . All new word will be save in this category if the user do not use categories

                      Config :
                      $showcategories = "0/1";
                      $beginwith = "all";
                      $autopublish = "0/1";
                      $perpage = "25";
                      $characters = array("A","B","C","D","E","F","G", ... "3", "4", "5", "6", "7", "8", "9");

                      - Create administration webpage to create, edit, delete categories and word’s definition

                      - Create a Glossaryview snippet to :
                      Show the categories list if $showcategories = "1";
                      Show the word list with pagination and characters menu : All , $chracters, Other

                      Your point of view ?
