      Recurring events are just events that are duplicated and have a relation back to a parent event that was used to create the repetitions. This can be accomplished with a single column in the table to represent the self-relationship. This could be referred to as parent or parentId, where each recurrence of a parent event would refer to the parentId of the initial event in the series. Then, if you decide to destroy the parent event, you might have the option of destroying all recurrences or leaving them alone. If you leave them alone, you could define a new parent or have the orphaned events simply become standalone events at that point. The logic at that point would be up to your requirements.

        I think we also need to consider that recuring events is not something limited by the amount of time the event will occured. Think of what Ryan said. If they want the event to occured on every sunday, then this is an unlimited recuring on the events. It can’t be achieved by duplicating the events on the database and having the parent id refered to the original event id. It’s more than that. I’m trying to grasp the whole concept of iCal right now. I believe there is a way to do it.

        FYI, I’ll work on the db class for the events than. I might be able to get it done in an hour. Hopefully by tonight there is something that I can uploaded to the forum.

        Sincerely,

          I think I miss the deadline, it suppose to be up yesterday.

          Anyway, here is the new remodification of the calendar class. Here is the list of major modification that I did to the class.
          1. Separation of database architecture into different class, and make a bridge that I call DataSource, so that it can be integrated into either database or iCal format data source, or maybe XML? laugh
          2. Separation of admin interface (popup) to be integrated on the data source class, instead of calendar class, to obtain flexibility in adding more data source layer into the calendar system.
          3. Separation of MODx specific page API and navigation API from calendar class to snippet, to enabled the use of several snippet in calling this calendar, making it available to include today’s calendar with the events listed available on the front page of the website maybe.
          4. Changing the concept of the viewing architecture by making a more universal data set for the Data Source layer to pass on to this calendar viewer class.
          5. Support calendar caching by storing data set into text file, to avoid going back and forth from the data source layer. Integrated into the database class.
          6. A little tweaking, such as jscalendar navigation.

          That’s all for now...

          In the next release, I want to release the real beta version of this module, after I’m done making the data source layer for database to support recuring events, span events, and etc, and making it more advanced.
          Let me know if you guys interested in extending the database data source layer, I’m kinda short handed now. I will move on to the next project, by helping Mark finishing of his newsletter module. So if somebody able to take on this project, it will be awesome.

          I need someone to understand the templating system, and make the current default template to looks better and support most browser, for example IE. (I also need to fix the close and refresh browser after editing admin in IE). Honestly I’m not a JS coder and not a web designer either, so if somboedy know how, please do support my weaknesses embarrassed hehehe...

          I also need someone to help coding the data source layer, and help solve the recuring events and all the neat features that most calendar events script has. I know somebody who knows how to doit, Jason, Victor? lol grin May I kindly ask for your help in extending this for me? laugh

          If you guys interested in expanding the current module, by providing iCal or XML data source features, then feel free to do so, and lets work together as a team to make a better MODx experience for other users wink

            Nice suite

            in IE6 can add an event but cant edit or delete it
            when placing 2 events on one day they both show but the mouseover only shows the information of the first event on both event hover.

            I tested this on your server using the login in the first treat.

            But Looks very nice

              It seems to me that the admin interface is not working correctly, because the cache file doesn’t seems to be cleared when the new events were added. I’ll work on this, this is more about the database data source side, which I really need to make a major modifcation to it ASAP. lol

              Anyway, I hate IE honestly, but I hate it even more, because I have to deal with it.

              Thanks for the input dimmy.

                Somebody know how to use the regClientCSS with MODx?

                I tried, but my CSS is not showing up on it. Btw, I create a variable, and store a multiple CSS in it. Will it work? Here is the code to be added.
                <!-- Start DBCalendar CSS -->
                <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="assets/modules/dbcalendar/styles/default.css" />
                <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" media="all" href="assets/modules/dbcalendar/javascripts/jscalendar/calendar-blue.css" />
                <!-- End DBCalendar CSS -->

                I try to read the code, and it seems that the code suppose to be able to insert this in.
                Btw, there is an error in the API.
                	# Registers Client-side CSS scripts - these scripts are loaded at inside the <head> tag
                	function regClientCSS($src){
                		if ($this->loadedjscripts[$src]) return '';
                		$this->loadedjscripts[$src] = true;
                		if (strpos(strtolower($src),"<style")!==false||strpos(strtolower($src),"<link")!==false) {
                			$this->sjscripts[count($sjscripts)] = $src;
                		}
                		else {
                			$this->sjscripts[count($this->sjscripts)] = "<style type='text/css'>@import:url($src)</style>";
                		}
                	}

                Not to for sure whether it’s suppose to use $this or not in $this->sjscripts[count($sjscripts)] = $src;

                I also use the regClientStartupScript, but it’s not working as well, and I’m using the same way with loading the variables in a bulk.

                Any help will be awesome.

                Thanks

                  Confirmed, the API need to use $this.

                  I just post it on the bugs tracker.
                  http://modxcms.com/bugs/task/220

                  Still trying to figure out why the script is not working.
                  Is there any limitation in the amount of string characters that I can use at one time, because it seems to me that the array key name is using the the source string.

                      I found a conflict between domTT and QuickEdit. Anybody have any better suggestion for tooltip, other than domTT? Sigh....

                      I tried overlib before, but I would like the advantage of having a hidden div to be displayed as the tooltip, instead of having to alter all the html code, for it be inserted in between single quote javascript, like the one on overlib.

                      Any suggesiton will be great.
